As their debut album 'Get Born' proves, this Melbourne four piece, Nic Cester (guitar/vocals), Chris Cester (drums/vocals), Cameron Muncey (guitar/vocals), Mark Wilson (bass), stand for everything that is raw, primitive, direct and loose about rock music.

Upstart Jet gains ground on withering Vines
Front man Nic Cester is more grounded than the Vines’ Nicholls, but Cester drew a stronger reaction for the crowd with fine vocal and guitar work.
Cester and Cameron Muncey traded off inspired guitar solos throughout the show on such songs as “Rollover D.J.” and “Get What You Need,” while leather-clad bassist Mark Wilson struck perfect rock-star poses.
The thunderous reply of “Yesss!” served notice that Jet is the newest Aussie force to be reckoned with, while the Vines had better keep a sharp eye on their rear-view mirror.

Nic Cester of Jet is somewhere in America touring with fellow Aussie rock revivalists the Vines, and he is just waking up.

Cester's bravado appears to be partly Australian male and partly beer-induced (the two being very closely correlated, you understand) but the cockiness and alcohol are aligned perfectly with the greasy, scuzzy, rock 'n' roll party dynamics of the music.
For the encore, Cester comes on with his acoustic guitar to give us a startling rendition of Move On, with his brother and otherwise drummer, Chris, on vocal duties.
The fact that Nic is obliviously puffing away on a cigarette whilst telling us this merely lends a macabre irony to the raw, blues-y ballad.

While Jet undoubtedly stole the limelight at last Sunday's ARIA Awards, it was a tribute to former rocker Stevie Wright, organised by Jet singer Nic Cester, that stole the show.

I stumbled upon this article this morning; basically it details how Jet's Nic Cester and some of his industry peers (Pat Bourke, Davey Lane, Chris Cheney, Kram Maher) got together to perform Evie Pt 2 at the recent ARIA awards.
Well, chickened out, demurred, forgot the lyrics, lost his voice - there were about ten different excuses floating around on the night, but the simple fact was that he didn't sing; "some guy from Perth" did, and a ripper job he did, too.
Okay, so maybe Cester decided it was a good idea to record the jam, but for Christ's sake give Goldsmith some credit for coming up with the idea of the all-star cast in the first place.
