Nicholas Ridley (February 17, 1929 - March 4, 1993) was a British politician.
The Ridley Plan to reduce the UK's dependence on deep-mined coal for energy was a prototype of later developments.
While Ridley was not one of the most powerful government members, his departure was a significant break in the Thatcherite ranks; Margaret Thatcher herself had ro resign less than six months later.

Thomas Jeremy King, Baron King of Bridgwater, CH, PC (born June 13, 1933), is a British Conservative politician who was Member of Parliament for Bridgwater in Somerset, from 1970 until 2001.
He held the posts of Employment Secretary and Secretary of State for Northern Ireland at a time when these were high-profile roles with the potential for controversy, but was not very well-known: this was satirised in Spitting Image in which his puppet sang "I'm the Invisible Man".
He was later the chair of the Intelligence and Security Select Committee.

Ridley, Nicholas (1500?-55), English Protestant prelate, reformer, and martyr, born near Willimoteswyke, Northumberland, and educated at Pembroke Hall, University of Cambridge, and the universities of Paris and Leuven.
Ridley helped Cranmer to compile the Book of Common Prayer and the Thirty-nine Articles and was appointed to help establish Protestantism in the University of Cambridge.
Ridley was burned at the stake with the English prelate and reformer Hugh Latimer.

Environment Secretary Nicholas Ridley had previously dismissed such an idea and stated that the circles were probably caused by wind.
In responding to letters from MPs writing on behalf of their constituents, MAFF Minister Richard Ryder suggested that the circles were “ … most likely to result from a combination of wind and local soil fertility conditions in cereals which are prone to lodging”.
In a February 1990 television interview he said that he thought a government inquiry into the subject was unnecessary, and stated that although he believed the matter was unresolved, he thought that crop circles were a natural phenomenon.
