Vansittart was born in London, England, the third son of Arthur van Sittart (1691–1760).
Vansittart sought to check this, and in 1762 he made a treaty with Mir Kasim, but the majority of his council were against him and in the following year this was repudiated.
The youngest of his five sons was Nicholas Vansittart, 1st Baron Bexley, who was Chancellor of the Exchequer from 12 May 1812 to 31 January 1823.

 THE VANSITTARTS
At the D.R.C. meeting of 19 February 1934, Vansittart made clear that in his opinion a major role of the D.R.C. report was to provide instruction, a programme of education on a fundamental issue for the survival of Britain and the Empire.
Vansittart did not believe, however, that Britain’s problems could be solved on a bilateral basis, for the interdependence of events in every region of the globe militated against bilateral solutions.
Vansittart was, as far as is known to date, the earliest individual of high rank in the government or civil service to see through the Nazis and was quite consistent in his position that Britain should follow a policy of firmness with Hitler.

With Gordon Brown becoming the second longest serving Chancellor of the Exchequer, the longest serving is remembered by a street name in Windsor.
Nicholas Vansittart (29 April 1766 February 1851), served as Chancellor from 1812 - 1823 and was created 1st Baron Bexley in March 1823 on his resignation from the position.
So it seems as though two streets were named after him shortly after his death, although the first reference to Vansittart Street is rather earlier in 1817 as the Vansittart family had been landowners in the area for many years.
