 | | He attended the public schools of Clayton county, Iowa, and was graduated from the Iowa state normal school, B.D., 1882; from the State University of Iowa, B.S., 1887, A.M., 1890, and was a graduate student at the University of Chicago, 1894-95. |
 | | He taught school for two years; was principal of the high school at Charles city, Iowa, 1882-83, superintendent of the Nashua, Iowa, public schools, 1883-87; assistant professor of mathematics of the State University of Iowa, 1887-90; professor of physics at the Kansas State Agricultural college, 1890-99, and was elected president of the college in 1899. |
