Topic: Nick Meglin

Time Warner - Newsroom - Print This
Editors Ficarra and Nick Meglin decided that the legendary humor magazine should abandon its longstanding fl-and-white tradition and as a result, beginning this past February, Mad has been printed in living color.
The ever-youthful Meglin and Ficarra have been at Mad for 69 years — between them, that is. "I was older when I started than I am now," says Meglin, who actually joined Mad 45 years ago, when he was 19.
When Ficarra and Meglin heard that Puffy Combs wanted to change his name to P Diddy, for example, they wrote a piece about it that was posted the next day.

» “What, Me Worry!”: Nick Meglin Can Help
Meglin is (was?) the co-editor of MAD magazine and also taught at the School of Visual Arts in NYC.
Well, it was really too much for me to expect Meglin’s book to erase years of bad thinking, but I felt the book was clearly dealing with where I needed work the most: in my thought process.
Meglin expounds chapter after chapter on how to think about making art (again, in this case, drawing), having us look at creativity from a slightly different and refreshing angle.

Nick Meglin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nick Meglin was on the editorial staff of MAD Magazine for almost half a century.
His progress can be observed by studying the magazine's masthead, which moved him from "Ideas" to "War Correspondent" (during an army stint) to "Editorial Associate" to "Associate Editor" to "Editor," a position which he held for 20 years.
He wrote book and lyrics for Tim and Scrooge, a musical sequel to A Christmas Carol with music by Neil Berg, and is currently collaborating with Berg and librettist Dan Remmes on a musical version of the film Grumpy Old Men.

 PopCult Magazine/MAD Magazine
Meglin believes the biggest reason for that is because since MAD is in print, it therefore provides them with more opportunities to get upset–even if what MAD is parodying is much worse.
However, such is not the case, according to Meglin.
Whatever Meglin's usual gang of idiots come up with, though, you can be sure it will carry on the MAD sense of humor.

 Talkin' Broadway Off-Broadway - Tim and Scrooge - 10/03/04
Bookwriter Nick Meglin postulates that, over a decade after the events of A Christmas Carol conclude, Tim (no longer Tiny) Cratchit approaches his 21st with two rites of passage in front of him: He's in love with a young girl named Allison, and will soon assume management of the Scrooge and Marley Counting House.
Tim, however, is more interested in being a teacher than a money manager, and signs away control of the business to two sleazy speculators, beginning a series of events that threatens to tear him away from his family and Allison, unless the spirit of the long-deceased Scrooge can help him set things right again.
Director Nick Corley does everything he can to keep the staging fluid and the pacing up, and costume designer Tina Heinze adds a nice touch of Victorian elegance to the proceedings.
