Nicolò Amati (1596–1684) taught Andrea Guarneri and Antonio Stradivari.
The sound of his instruments is mellow and beautiful but less powerful than those of his successors of the Cremonese school, perhaps due to the highly arched belly which was a characteristic of his violins and violas.
Andrea was succeeded by two sons, Antonio (1550–1638) and Girolamo (Hieronymus) (1561–1630), who continued in the same tradition as their father, often signing their instruments jointly as ‘the brothers Amati, sons of Andrea’.

Opera in the 18th Century - Popular History Of Music
Jomelli represents the Neapolitan school, having, been educated first at the conservatory of San Onofrio, and later at that of "La Pieta de' Turchini." His earlier inclination was church music, and in order to perfect himself in it he went to Rome.
Zingarelli was not only a good musician and a good composer, but a man of ability and principle.
He produced about thirty-two operas, twenty-one oratorios and cantatas, and there are about 500 manuscripts of his in the "Annuale di Loreto." As a composer of comic operas Zingarelli became popular all over Europe, but he was nevertheless a serious, even a devout composer.

But by this time, Santa Anna was in power, having seized control in 1833, and he advocated the removal of all foreigners.
His answer was to send his crack troops, commanded by his brother-in-law, General Martin Perfecto de Css, to San Antonio to disarm the Texans.
When Css ordered the small community of Gonzales, about 50 miles east of San Antonio, to return a cannon loaned to the town for defense against Indian attack--rightfully fearing that the citizens might use the cannon against his own troops--the Gonzales residents refused.
