		Nigel and Pete worked on their comedy double act, 'The Outer Limits' for a year and developed the act to include a variety of characters and an aspect of musical comedy.
		Planer was chosen to appear in the BBC comedy show 'Boom Boom...Out Go The Lights.' This television show was regarded by many as the first TV showcase for a new generation of alternative comedians.
		Planer followed this show with another theatrical satire, 'Simon Gray's Unnatural Pursuits.' Nigel Planer was involved in children's show, The Magic Roundabout, where he gave his voice to the characters and wrote English scripts for the classic animation.

		Good gracious, if Nigel was so negatively affected by a few cutting words written on the toilet walls he should be thankful he wasn’t born female.
		Of course it doesn’t help to blame individuals and it’s sad to think that poor Nigel seems to feel that he has been expected to personally shoulder the blame for all the things that made those nasty women write all that horrible graffiti about men.

		Planer combines the novel's sustained humour with often tender insights into the confusion of men's emotions, but the comedy has the upper hand; Barry's night at the men's group is a perfectly paced comic scene balancing slapstick and wit, in the tradition of Kingsley Amis's Jim Dixon and his Merrie England lecture.
