  Night
Night is the time when a location is facing away from the Sun, and thus dark.
On Earth, it is night on just under half the planet at any time.
The Northern and Southern Hemispheres of the world experience the same patterns of night length depending on their latitude, but the cycles are 6 months apart so that one hemisphere experiences long nights (winter) while the other experiences short nights (summer).

Iced Earth - Satan Stole My Teddybear
Night of the Stormrider is probably their best CD (and interestingly also their fastest and thrashiest) - things start to decline after this (though Burnt Offerings is almost as good) and are really hopeless from the Dark Saga onwards.
This album showcases more of his clean voice than the others and his good tone, pure emotion, and his adherence to the school of "don't sing the song, BE the song" definitely adds another dimension to this album that would have been lost with Jon Greely or...
Iced Earth, who has been bouncing around the scene for nearly a decade and switching line-ups as often as they changed their toothbrushes, is a prime example of taking influences from the masters such as Judas Priest and that power metal scene to more modern touches.

Guitarist The Edge described the album as "about as far away from U2 as it is possible to be".
The vocals to "Last Night On Earth" were reportedly recorded at the mixing desk the day the album was to be sent for pressing.
Between the album's various singles and the band's The Best of 1990-2000 compilation (and disregarding dance remixes and the like), the band has re-recorded, remixed, and rearranged "Discothèque", "If God Will Send His Angels", "Staring at the Sun", "Last Night On Earth", "Gone", and "Please".

Die-hard fans of Iced Earth may be aware of the band's longtime fascination with the subject of horror; in the early days of the band, such themes were tightly tied in with both the music and the presentation.
This powerful composition is a prelude to the next Iced Earth album, but even on its own, it stands as a masterful piece of work.
Iced Earth had some long songs on the previous albums, but on this one they show their ability to create a full-fledged epic.

first night on earth is the vision of founder Wes Grasty, formerly a member of the band Laburnum.
Their mixture of rock/pop with occasional electronic beats and memorable melodies sets first night on earth apart from the norm.
This gives First Night On Earth an edge over other upcoming American bands, as this is the sort of sound that is quite unique these days to which a lot of bands, if they tried, would otherwise fail to reproduce.

Their thirteenth studio LP is predictably unpredictable: Where 1998's Me was a lounge, rock and electronic-breakbeat party, on Journey to the End of the Night the Mekons settle into a single stylistic groove of melancholy electric ballads and languid reggae.
The album's structure is almost narrative: A lonesome cumb?s signals "the first light of dawn" on "Myth"; for the next eleven tracks, vocalist-guitarists Jon Langford and Tom Greenhalgh troll like somber picaros through an inky urban world limned by Suzie Honeyman's violin and singer Sally Timms' lilting vibrato (see "Last Weeks of the War").
The album closes with "Last Night on Earth," the band's defiant spit into the eye of darkness: "The system is sick.

This album reeks of Indie to me, specifically because it has a vague feeling of "we don't know what we're doing, but we'll produce it anyway".

Compare Prices and Read Reviews on Night Of The Stormrider [Remaster] - Iced Earth at Epinions.com
Too bad the song is only one minute and twenty-three seconds, but that’s understandable as this is a concept album and therefore the songs don’t have to necessarily stand on their own.
Desert Rain: Not bad at all, although if Iced Earth were going for a “Middle Eastern” sound here like they were, they should’ve done more with the instrumentation than just plunking out a Gypsy scale with a guitar on the clean channel.
Overall, this CD is a sophomoric effort at a concept album, and while it has some great parts to it, there are plenty of bad parts, both in the singing and guitar department.

Pop by U2 (lyrics & reviews)
Last Night On Earth is the most catchy song on POP with a great chorus, a song that comes alive live on stage.
This album may have seemed about lemons and arches and colors and videos making fun of the village people(the opener, 'Discotheque') and all fun and games on the outside, but in reality the lyrics of this record are the most serious and cynical of U2's career.
The only weaknesses of this album are the faded vocals/ weak lyrics on the high-energy songs.

By the time Rialto released their first album they got lumped in with the decline of Britpop and many people thought they were another Pulp.
The people who actually listened to the album and had supported them at gigs knew that they had written some pop gems like "Monday Morning 5.19" and "Hard Candy." What happened was that they were dropped by their label and the record was never properly promoted.
The only complaint I have about this album and the only reason for not giving it a full five stars rating is the lyrics, which on this effort are unfortunately far more generic than the abundant ones which appeared on their eponymous debut.

The song has a jaunty bounce as it casually catalogues social ills before the chorus chimes, "They can't hurt you now/Last night on Earth." It's a strangely triumphant song at the end of an elegiac album that finds the 24-year-old band navigating a dark night of the soul internally, and a hostile landscape externally.

I believe this is second album from Iced Earth, and here they had another vocalist than Matt Barlow, sadly enough, but I think he's really good anyway.
It's not that I haven't heard most of the songs before or anything, cause many of them are included on the live album released in '99.
Maybe because of that I can't give this low rating, but honestly I don't think I can do that to ANY Iced Earth album, cause my experience tells me they're all good.

Ditching the hi-tech sound of the last album for a more organic touch, this album, recorded while the pair was considering touring, marks a return to guitars and more conventional rock forms.

The fact that their audience has walked out on them should really have given the game away.
