		Nightmare was the original term for the state later known as waking dream (cf Mary Shelley and Frankenstein's Genesis), and more currently as sleep paralysis, associated with rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.
		Such nightmares were widely considered to be the work of demons, which were thought to sit on the chests of sleepers.

		"Nightmare" 3 is not the best horror film ever made (The Shining is) and although this film is probably the second best in the series it fails to scare me. The first "nightmare" was excellent and firmly established the sub genre of fantasy/horror making way for other films such as the "Hellraiser" series.
		This is the sequel that started off the nightmare on elm street series to being one of the greatest horror series and was the first to make Freddy cool.
