Nihilist movement - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Nihilist movement was an 1860s Russian cultural movement marked by the questioning of the validity of all forms of preconceived ideas and social norms.
Nihilists were denounced as agitators, and after the killing of the Tzar Alexander II they became known in the Western Europe as preconizers of destruction as the primary tool for political change.
Nihilist political philosophy rejected all religious and political authority, social traditions, and traditional morality as standing in opposition to freedom, the ultimate ideal.

Nihilism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the world of ethics, nihilist or nihilistic is often used as a derogatory word referring to a complete rejection of all systems of authority, morality, and social custom, or one who purportedly makes such a rejection.
Either through the rejection of previously accepted bases of belief or through extreme relativism or skepticism, the nihilist is construed as one who believes that none of these claims to power are valid, and often that they should be fought against.
Though it is often described as a fundamentally nihilist philosophy, before entering a brief discussion on postmodern thought it is important to note that nihilism itself is open to postmodern criticism: nihilism is a claim to a universal truth, exactly what postmodernism rejects.

 How To Be A Nihilist | CounterOrder.com
The nihilist is unorthodox, a tradition-violator, driven by the inner-force, and not attached or tied down by contemporary superstitions or beliefs.
Ultimately a nihilist is only as capable and efficacious as they strive to be while of course limited by circumstances and their own capacities, for just as Stepniak stated, a nihilist recognizes no other guidance but his or her individual mind.
A common error of nihilists is to simply eject most everything at once and remain at the bottom but this is ultimately just as bad as believing in the original fantasies, it's just switching one blindness for another.

Both of these ideas are important, but nihilist conformity is only a functional performance test against the nihilist influences on society other than a general feeling of contempt.
Nihilist contempt allows a dispositional interaction with ideas and claims that makes dividing reality into terms like subjective and objective.
Nihilist conformity is a completely different outcome that results in a strengthening the inertia of the system.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Nihilism
The term was first used by Turgeniev in his novel, "Fathers and Sons" (in "Russkij Vestnik", Feb., 1862): a Nihilist is one who bows to no authority and accepts no doctrine, however widespread, that is not supported by proof.
The nihilist theory was formulated by Cernysevskij in his novel "Cto delat" (What shall be done, 1862-64), which forecasts a new social order constructed on the ruins of the old.
Among the deeds of violence committed by Nihilists may be mentioned the assassination of General Mezencev (4 Aug., 1878) and Prince Krapotkin (1879).

Ashcroft the Nihilist by William L. Anderson
In an article last year, I accused U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft of being a "postmodern bureaucrat." However, I fear that I was unfair in my characterization of our nation’s highest-ranking law enforcement officer.
Although Ashcroft will not remain in his post forever, he has further driven U.S. law into a nihilistic state in which power is everything and honor, decency, and yes, justice, are nothing.
In my opinion, that makes him a nihilist, and he is no different than the Crits or the thugs who have sat at the head of totalitarian regimes.

Nihilism @ American Nihilist Underground Society (ANUS)
Many human errors originate in perceiving an event to be either more important than it is, or to be "symbolically" indicative of relevance on a greater scale than the localized context which it affects, usually because of a conditioned preference for the scale of eventiture existing before the symbolic event.
For example, a nihilistic fighter does not bother to assess whether his opponent is a better fighter or not that the perceiving agency, but fights to his best ability (something evolution would reward, as the best fighter does not win every fight, only most of them).
Understanding nihilism requires one drop the pretense of nihilistic philosophy being an endpoint, and acceptance of it being a doorway.
