Antropov was drafted 10th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
Antropov's skating ability has been criticised strongly in the Toronto media, as has his unfortunate history of injuries, including three knee operations before his 25th birthday.
Antropov and Colorado Avalanche goaltender Vitaly Kolesnik were the lone NHL players on the team.

You see, most of the hockey world and DHL General Managers looks at Nik Antropov and sees this large, gangly, marginally accomplished hockey player and they have to wonder what happened to that kid with all the promise.
Antropov has had a better start to his career than Player A and is comparable to Player B. And he did that coming from a poor development league in Khazakastan while both Player A and Player B did it coming from successful Junior carrers in the OHL.
Antropov was drafted in the first round 10th overall.

Even on their worst nights I have a ton of respect for every one of these players because they are playing at a level that I could only ever dream of.
He creates chances nearly every time he's near the net, it doesn't matter how fast of a skater he is. Antropov (even though it seems like we haven't seen him in forever) can play a physical game, and combined with Ponikarovsky he continually makes scoring chances.
I'd rather have Eric Lindros and Nik Antropov replace Domi and Kilger than any other players, but I feel Quinn is more likely to have them replace Wilm and Czerkawski instead.
