		On 15 Oct. 2005, the province of Ninevah cast the deciding votes in the referendum for Iraq's Constitution.
		One of three mostly Sunni provinces whose veto could defeat the constitution, Nineveh was closely watched through the extended electoral count.
		Home to a diverse population of Sunnis and Kurds, as well as the oil processing center Mosul), Ninevah promises to play a large role in Iraqi politics into the future.

	MyDD :: Election Fraud in Iraq? Looks like it.
		Moving on to Iraq from the previous post (Iraq is really the mother of all scandals), there may have been some rather severe election fraud during the recent vote in Ninevah province.
		Ninevah Province was the most likely place that Sunni Arabs opposing the constitution might be able to get a 2/3s "no" vote.
		To buck another, neighboring Sunni Arab majority privnce to the tune of 46% after a plot to defraud the vote in Ninevah province was uncovered in January stinks of fraud.

		Ninevah’s walls were so massive, that one person said that if Ninevah had been placed between France and Germany during World War I, it would have survived any attacks by either side.

		Given all the fluctutations and delays, prominent Sunnis, even moderate ones who participated in drafting the Constitution and who called on Sunnis to participate in the vote, are calling the vote a "farce" and voicing suspicions of fraud.
		In the middle of last week, a new effort to provide a more sophisticated spin appeared with reports that Ninevah had a 54.6% "no" vote and Diyala also had a 54% "no" vote.
		No doubt the Ninevah number is being delayed to allow this number to set in so as to ultimately justify a "no" vote in Ninevah that is more than the Diyala number but less than that needed for the veto.
