Nintendos Official Seal of Quality in NTSC regions
HES seal to mimic the official Nintendo Seal of Quality.
The Nintendo Seal of Quality is a gold seal that Nintendo of America places on any game licensed for use on one of its video game consoles, denoting that the game has been properly licensed by Nintendo (and in theory, been checked for quality).

Nintendo kept the reins tight in Japan, but it quickly became apparent that the situation was good for both parties: Publishers were allowed to make and sell games for an immensely popular platform, and Nintendo retained control and shared in the profits of all of the software sold.
Through the Seal of Quality and the special security chip inside the NES that backed it up, Nintendo was able to keep a leash on its publishers and prevent this from happening again.

I bought the product because it had the Nintendo seal of quality on it but quality does not really matter for AC adapters.
Nintendo went around of the problem of a lack of a power input by creating a battery cover that has input for the power.
I suppose Nintendo saved 50 cents on every GBA by removing that feature because it is cheaper to make a few people pay for an AC power slot on a peripheral then 24 million GBAs in one year.

Thanks to GGA, I just ran into an article arguing that Nintendo may open their upcoming Revolution console to independent developers who would be able to create downloadable content.
So, when I say that Nintendo is desperate I am not saying Iomega-desperate (remember they use to rule the world with their Zip disks?).
Update: Thanks to Peter Smith for his comments, pointing out to stories at Buzzcut and Nintendo Insider showing that Nintendo is doing great on the business side even though we all perceive it as lagging behind the console wars.

Of course, as soon as Nintendo hardware starts breaking, it's bad luck whereas when Sony hardware is breaking it's shoddy build quality, right?
Personally, I'd rather wait for 'official' (or rather, a big gaming website) reporting word of DS defects to announce that Nintendo have shoddy build quality, but even at an early stage it's, *ahem* interesting to see what people will say.
obviously you couldn't send back an original gameboy it's too old but if you had a problem with the DS they would fix it or replace it that's what the nintendo official seal of quality means...
