Nippori Station (Japanese: 日暮里駅) is a major interchange station in Taito, Tokyo Ward, Tokyo.
The JR section of the station was opened on April 1, 1905 and the Keisei section on December 19, 1931.

Do NOT take the skyliner (which goes to Nippori and Ueno), as it is both more expensive and brings you to a less convenient station in Tokyo for reaching our house.
The closest subway station to my home is the Shirokanedai station of the Namboku or Mita line.
Luckily all the trains and station names are indicated in English as well as Japanese.

You take either Skyliner or limited express (stops more than Skyliner, thus about 15-20 minutes later in arrival) to go to Nippori (the end station is Ueno but Nippori is one stop before) and change to JR Yamanote line (the circular line) to Ikebukuro.
It isi a toll road up to the 5th station and ina car (a few years ago) we were turned around and told that during that time of year only tour busses were allowed up.
You could even go to JR East website to download the Station Maps ahead of time, to see how the platform layouts are, and which platform to go to for the train you take...
