		Nishio style was so different from Yoshinkan style which I had learned.
		Nishio sensei loved Aikido and wanted to reach after the truth of Aikido through Ken and Jo.I can see his face when I close my eyes.
		I know Shoji Nishio Sensei and his Aikido techniques from his disciple Shikegoshi who stayed in Indonesia for 3 years.

		Also Nishio Sensei is still affiliated with Aikikai but it is obvious that his style is a major departure from the standard honbu style.
		I am not sure when Nishio sensei opened up his own dojo in Yokohama but it must be sometime after 1974 since this is when he returned to Yokohama from Shiga.

	Shoji Nishio - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Shoji Nishio (December 5, 1927 - March 15, 2005), a noted aikidoka, was born in Aomori Prefecture of Japan in 1927.
		He held the title of an Aikikai shihan and created a new school of Iaido with forms from aikido, called Aiki Toho Iaido.
		In 2003 Nishio Sensei received Budo Kyoryusho award from Japanese Budo Federation for his lifetime contribution to development and worldwide propagation of Aikido.

		My take on Nishio is that he is practicing high-level aikido, and not some wierd amalgamation of judo, karate and kendo, as some of his detractors, like Tohei, have claimed.
		I can't remember that he talked about ki much, and I do remember that he was kind of fed up with all the ki-talk going on in the aikido world (as many shihan are).
		As Nishio Sensei`s "boss", it would be natural for Tohei Sensei to criticise him.

		Shoji Nishio Sensei, a direct student of O'Sensei, was born in Aomori, Japan, December 5,1927.
		Nishio Sensei started training in Judo at the Senbadojo in Tokyo in 1942, and on September 1st, 1945 began training at the Kodokan in Tokyo.
		In addition to his many other accomplishments Nishio Sensei is the founder of Aikido Toho Iaido.
