A citizen of a community approximately 30 miles from the site is concerned that cattle are ingesting nitroguanidine and other chemicals and that people are being exposed through the foodchain by eating that beef.
We further noted that cattle are fenced off from areas where the highest concentrations of nitroguanidine and other chemical contaminants are likely to be found.
Nitroguanidine is not expected to accumulate in beef because animal studies indicate the chemical is not extensively metabolized.

 Megalomania's Method of Making Nitroguanidine
Nitroguanidine, sometimes written as nitroguanadine, is a stable primary explosive compound.
Unfortunately, the preparation of guanidine nitrate, the main precursor for nitroguanidine, can be hampered as its precursors are difficult to obtain.
With that aside, nitroguanidine is very simple to synthesize, requiring only sulfuric acid to react with.

Nitroguanidine is a highly versatile intermediate used in the manufacture of a range of high value organic chemicals.
Nitroguanidine, also known as Picrite, was initially developed as a propellent for various munitions.
However, its versatility as an intermediate in Organic Chemical synthesis means that these chemical applications now dwarf its traditional uses.

The nitroguanidine insecticide imidacloprid along with a second generation of related compounds including nitenpyram, all nicotinic acetylcholine (ACh) receptor ligands, are used increasingly in many countries.
Since the neonicotinoids alone do not have any positively charged nitrogens (Figure 1), the impact of mutations G189D and G189E on the agonist actions of the insecticides and the natural ligands was predicted to differ and this was found to be the case in our experiments.
Thus, for both nitroguanidines this oxygen, rather than the electron deficient nitrogen (Figure 1, shown with an asterisk), is most likely to result in an electronic repulsion with the added aspartate and glutamate residues in loop D, hence the observed interference with insecticide-receptor interaction in both G189D and G189E mutants.
