A new coastal tree planted in the Adopt-a-Tree project by community members on Niutao, Tuvalu.
Coastal erosion, caused by rising seas, is a widespread problem in Tuvalu, as in many other Pacific Island countries.
To ameliorate this problem, the Tuvalu Association of Non-Government Organisation (TANGO), provided technical assistance to community members in the Adopt-A-Tree project on the island of Niutao in northern Tuvalu.

In January 1944, six pilots and twenty-two out of twenty-four aircraft were a squadron of fighter planes from Tarawa flew into a storm near Niutao.
