  Short Sunderland - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
After the first flight the aircraft was returned to the shop and a modified wing was installed with a 4.5° sweep to the rear, thereby moving the centre of pressure into a more reasonable position compared to the new centre of gravity.
Although the wing loading was much higher than that of any previous RAF flying boat, a new flap system kept the takeoff run to reasonable length.
By the outbreak of war in Europe, in September 1939, RAF Coastal Command was operating 40 Sunderlands.

The P-40 had no serious vices and was a pleasant aircraft to fly, and, when flown by an experienced pilot who was fully aware of its strengths and weaknesses, was able to give a good account of itself in aerial combat.
No 112 Squadron became famous for its "shark's tooth" insignia on the engine cowling, and this scheme was later adopted by the American Volunteer Group in China.
RAF serials were AH991/999, AK100/570 (36 of this batch were shipped to China and were selected at random with no particular sequence), AM370/519 (64 were shipped to China, selected at random), and AN218/517.

A new and thicker Curtiss C-72 airfoil replaced the RAF 15 airfoil of the NBS-1.
The bomb-aimer's position was built into an offset on the port side of the fuselage instead of under the nose gunner's position as was the usual position.
One of the XNBS-4s was modified by having each engine nacelle extended aft of the wing trailing edge so that it could accommodate a defensive gunner position in the rear.

 Army in India & Frontier Warfare 1914 - 1939 :: Khyber.ORG
The use of the RAF in co-operation with troops was discussed and it even went on to cover the employment of tanks in hill warfare, although they were still unavailable in India.
No radical changes were made by the General Staff in the system of periodic relief of units stationed in the NWFP or the training methods used by the Army in India apart from greater emphasis on light infantry training.
This decision had strengthened Wing Commander John Slessor's - CO of No. 3 (Indian Wing) - growing conviction that a radical change should be made in the system of army co-operation used in India, as the existing ‘Aldershot model’- devised for conventional European warfare - was largely ineffective in mountainous terrain [58].

DNA sequence analysis reveals that there is almost no polymorphism in the central components of signal transduction (Gasperini and Gibson), so we are focusing on upstream regulators and downstream targets as sources of phenotypic variation.
