The Gladiators were also used by two RAF fighter squadrons during the remaining two months of the Norwegian campaign.
No Norwegian Army Air Force aircraft were able to evacuate after the June 10 surrender of the mainland Norwegian forces.
In the North African and Greek theatres, RAF Gladiators achieved some success against the Italian Regia Aeronautica, which was mainly equipped with Fiat CR.32 and Fiat CR.42 biplanes.

The squadron itself was originally formed from 'B' Flight, No 57 Squadron at East Kirkby near Spilsby, Lincolnshire, on 15th November 1943.
He was a bomb aimer in WWII in Lancaster Bombers and flew with 630 squadron.

The second squadron of the Australian Flying Corps (AFC) was formed, as 68 (Australian) Squadron, Royal Flying Corps (RFC), at Kantara in Egypt on 20 September 1916.
Equipped initially with DH-5 aircraft, 67 Squadron was a “scout” squadron, the main role of which was to escort larger, slower aircraft, seek out and destroy the enemy’s aircraft, and provide support for ground troops.
The squadron was soon drawn into the ongoing operations that constituted the third battle of Ypres, and was heavily involved in ground attack operations.

From formation until the end of hostilities in Europe, No. 75 Squadron operated as a heavy bomber unit of the RAF Bomber Command.
Towards the end of 1942 the New Zealand Squadron converted to Stirlings and thereafter made a significant contribution to the Battle of the Ruhr, the devastation of Hamburg and the famous raid against the German V-weapon experimental station at Peenemunde.
In March 1944 No. 75 Squadron began to exchange its Stirlings for Lancasters and was ready in time to participate in preparation and support of the Allied invasion, the bombing of flying bomb sites and close support of the armies.

630 Squadron was formed on 15th November 1943, at East Kirkby, near Spilsby, Lincolnshire, and remained based there throughout its existence.
Equipped with Lancasters, it formed part of No. 5 Group and between 18/19th November 1943 and 25th April 1945, took part in many major raids, including each of the 16 big raids made by Bomber Command on the German capital during what became known as the "Battle of Berlin".

Joining the RAF in 1939, he was posted as a wireless operator firstly to 149 Squadron and then 99 Squadron on Wellingtons.
Fred Watts joined the RAF in 1940, and qualifying as a pilot was posted to 630 Squadron in 1943 flying Lancasters out of East Kirby.
He joined 617 Squadron in 1944 and took part in many of the precision operations that the Squadron was renowned for, including raids on V1 sites, V2 rocket bases, and all three attacks on the Tirpitz.

 630 Squadron - East Kirkby
RAF East Kirkby opened on the 20th August 1943 as a Bomber command Station and is situated in Lincolnshire (not far from RAF Coningsby).
No. 630 Squadron disbanded in July that year and its place was taken by No. 460 Squadron (Australian) from Binbrook.
This squadron joined No. 57 for transfer to the Far East as part of Tiger Force but the dropping of the atomic bombs expedited Japan's surrender.

 The Wartime Memories Project - RAF East Kirkby
RAF East Kirkby opened on the 20th August 1943 as a Bomber command Station.
Dad will be attending the reunion on July 2nd/3rd and meeting for the first time in 61 years the pilot Phil Ainley (and Mum and Dad's best man at their wedding 10th April 1944) and Bruce McTrowe, the son of the Mid Upper Gunner, Arnold McTrowe from Canada.
It has been quite a humbling adventure trying to tally Dad's story with the RAF war dairies and with the help of his log book have been able to identify 17 of his missions.

J92125 Pilot Officer (No. 630 Squadron RAF air gunner) Archie Harry Siemens of Warman was KIA 19440622 and is buried at Schoonselhof cemetery, Antwerp, Belgium.
Note, though, that he does have an L service no. which, in his case, probably only means that he travelled to Regina to enlist.

The Squadron Standard, which was presented to the Squadron by Her Majesty The Queen at Marham in 1956, was laid up in Leicester Cathedral on Sunday 14th October 1984.
These were some of the principal guests of those who met at RAF Northolt in September 1983 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the BBC recording made of EM-F's trip to Berlin on 3 Sep 1943.
A Memorial to 44, 57, 207, 630 and 619 Squadrons was dedicated in 1995 and is situated beside the restored Control Tower.

Since December 1942, while engaged on ARI.5513 operations with this squadron, Flying Officer Koester, together with Flying Officer [John C.] Thelwell, his pilot, has made 16 sorties, including sky and ground marking sorties where accuracy of aiming is essential.
He navigated his aircraft with great precision thus enabling his pilot to take over the place in the operation in which the previous aircraft had failed.
Squadron Leader Kruger has completed many sorties on his second tour of operational duty.

Equipped with Wellingtons, it took part in the early bombing offensive against Germany, Italy, and enemy-occupied territory.
