826 Squadron FAA was specially formed to operate the first Albacores in March, 1940.
Eventually there were 15 FAA squadrons equipped with the plane which operated widely in the Mediterranean.
During the period September 1941 to end of June 1943 No. 828 Squadron FAA, Hal-Far, Malta, operated a squadron of TSR Fairey Albacores under some of the most severe blitz conditions imaginable during the siege of Malta, mainly against Italian shipping and shore-based targets in Sicily.

The squadron reformed in January 1944 at Lee-on-Solent as a torpedo bomber reconnaissance squadron with 12 Barracuda IIs, embarking in June on HMS Indefatigable to take part in attacks on the German battleship Tirpitz in Kaa Fjord, Alta, North Norway Norway (Operation Mascot 17 July 1944, and Operations Goodwood in August 1944).

 Wessex Matchbox kit 1/72
The FAA operated various versions of this helicopter and it would be nice to have a ship based Wessex in the model collection.
On the belly of the fuselage, some details of winches, piping were added although no clear references could be found on the exact shape.
The end result is quite pleasing and colourfull and a nice addition to the FAA 1/72 scale model collection.
