The Operative: No One Lives Forever for PlayStation 2 Review - PlayStation 2 The Operative: No One Lives Forever Review
The Operative: No One Lives Forever received a great deal of praise when it was originally released for the PC in November of 2000.
The gameplay in No One Lives Forever is rather diverse when compared with the gameplay of other console first-person shooters in that you don't always push through the levels, mindlessly shooting bad guys.
No One Lives Forever 2 is a rousing success on every level.

IGN: No One Lives Forever Review
The humor in NOLF is actually really funny, a rarity for video games, and the cinematics are filled with one-liners, like Archer's partner assuring her, "I can be subtle," and Cate replying, "Then explain that shirt." There's also a running code phrase gag throughout the entire game.
NOLF is a shooter with a brain and a sense of humor...let's just hope more developers will jump on the bandwagon and give us a shooter experience like this.
NOLF is also multiplayer compatible with the PC version of the game so you can go online immediately and start putting the hurt on our computing friends who have gone to the dark side.

 No One Lives Forever review
No One Lives Forever (or NOLF) is a delightfully campy, tongue-in-cheek homage to the 60’s secret agent/spy theme.
Be it the mink stole worn by a snobby baroness, to the walls of a sinking ship being crushed by pressure, to a giant view of Earth from a transparent space station walkway, the visuals are yet another contributor to the game’s creativity and immersion factor.
NOLF features a huge cast of characters, and everyone from Cate to the many unnamed thugs deliver their lines with total credibility.

The new engine introduced a number of enhancements over NOLF's Lithtech 1.0 engine, including higher quality graphics, facial animation, pixel-shaded water, and a rudimentary implementation of ragdoll physics.

The game may no longer be brand-new and has been on the shelves since the turn of the year, but that doesn't diminish the game's quality in the least.
But what No One Lives Forever makes so extraordinary, are the riveting and innovative missions as well as the crazy agent tools.
No need to say that the cool agent paraphernalia are a class of their own.

No One Lives Forever is an outstanding action-adventure game that combines the campy 1960s-style spy-spoof story lines of the Austin Powers movies with the best single-player gameplay we've experienced since Half-Life.
Early on, no matter how well you personally perform in the game, she takes a lot of heat from her superiors in between-mission cut scenes for mucking up assignments and performing below par: the woman intruding in the man's world of international intrigue, or some of her coworkers believe.

NOLF turned out to be one of the great shooters of all time.
In what was a great year for FPS titles, No One Lives Forever stood out even with such competition as Soldier of Fortune, Thief II and the mighty Deus Ex out on the market.
There are no crazy levels like skydiving without a parachute, and ‘gimmick’ levels like sniping in Morocco, as we had in the original.

It's this universe, not James Bond or Austin Powers that No One Lives Forever borrows from, placing gun firmly in cheek for a very dry, campy adventure that knows just how ridiculous it is, and is smart enough to have fun with it.
It's when half of the male agents are dead that U.N.I.T.Y. decides to promote Cate Archer, its first female agent, to the field in the hopes that she can help uncover the enemy organization and put a stop to its killing spree.

The Armchair Empire - Playstation 2 (PS2) Reviews: No One Lives Forever
No One Lives Forever (NOLF) definitely suffers from this, and with the game running on a dated engine things start looking worse.
After reading Omni’s praise for the PC version I had to check to make sure this was indeed NOLF that I was playing, and, alas, it was.
Unfortunately for all of NOLF’s good points, the controls just make the game too frustrating to be worth investing any time in the title.

When we started No One Lives Forever, the team had just come off Shogo: Mobile Armor Division, which (although critically successful) fell embarrassingly short of our original design goals.
To a great degree, we succeeded, for although No One Lives Forever was to undergo a great deal of turmoil in the coming months, we never let it get out of control the way we had with Shogo.
That's not to say we didn't make plenty of mistakes or that the game is as polished as we had hoped, merely that it was a monumental improvement over previous efforts.

In NOLF, missions are varied and challenging: but "challenging" doesn't mean that there are many, many bad guys with AK47s.
In NOLF, enemies also have a fairly predictable set of patterns: roll to the side; run away; flip over furniture and hide behind it; get help; charge head on; and a few others.
The cutscenes (all engine-rendered - no pre-rendered movies at all) are often very funny, as well; even when matters are dire, there is a dose of sarcasm or irony stuck in every other sentence.
