No 2620 (County of Norfolk) Squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force Regiment was first formed as an auxiliary RAF Regiment field squadron at Marham on 1 March 1983 to defend its parent station against ground attack by Warsaw Pact Forces.
However, some 10% of the Squadron are made up of personnel who are not RAF Regiment personnel.
Indeed, during Operation TELIC, Squadron auxiliary RAF Regiment personnel formed the bulk of the first fully auxiliary RAF Regiment field squadron to be deployed on operations since the end of the second world war; operating from Ali Al Salem airbase in Kuwait and Basrah airport in Southern Iraq.

36 Squadron Association, and no doubt all the organisations represented here today, are very appreciative of the care and concern shown by the residents of the Baldons over all these years, towards the relatives and friends of those who lost their lives.
