  RCAF.com : Squadrons : No. 421 Squadron
The last RCAF fighter squadron to formed in the UK, the squadron was established at Digby in April 1942 with the Supermarine Spitfire Mk Va's, moving to Fairwood Common in May and receiving Spitfire Mk Vb's.
The squadron was transferred to RAF Stn Odiham in England flying RAF Vampire and Meteor aircraft for most of 1951.
Later the squadron was transferred to Zweibrucken, Germany, and equipped with CF-104 Starfighters as a component of No. 1 Canadian Air Group based in Baden-Soellingen, West Germany.

 Vickers Valiant
The first deliveries of these were to the newly formed 543 Squadron at RAF Wyton in June 1955.
During the Suez Crisis Valiants of 138, 148, 207 and 214 squadrons were deployed to RAF Luqa in Malta and the first Valiant attacks against Egyptian airfields began on 31 October 1956.
In 1964 the entire Valiant fleet was retired, with the OCU being first to disband and the last Valiant squadron, 49 Squadron, being disbanded in January 1965.

 M M Alam - Pakistan's Fighter Ace
The first unit to which Alam was assigned, No. 11 Squadron, had the distinction of being the first PAF unit to use jet fighters, being equipped with the Supermarine Attackers in 1951.
In 1956 No. 11 was re-equipped with the new Sabres, and by 1965 it was part of No. 33 Wing, based at Sargodha, in West Pakistan.
Postwar examinations of IAF records mention that Squadron Leader Ajit Kumar Rawley of No. 7 Squadron was killed when his Hunter flew into ground, but the record is vague as to whether or not that was during combat.

 Sqn Histories 156-160_P
The squadron maintained it's role as a target marking squadron until the end of the war, moving to Upwood in March 1944 and Wyton in June 1945, where it disbanded on 25 September 1945.
One of No 158's Halifax IIIs, LV907 named 'Friday the 13th' ended the war having completed 128 operational missions and after the war was displayed in London, but unfortunately only the nose panel with its distinctive nose art and mission marking was saved and is now housed in the RAF Museum at Hendon.
Finally in September the No 159 element continued on to India and the element left in the Middle East adopted the identity of No 160 Squadron.

 Lockheed PV-1 Ventura
The RAF Ventura G.R.Vs operated with No. 519 and 521 Squadrons of Coastal Command and with Nos.
Some of the RAF aircraft were later modified for transport duty with No. 299 Squadron of RAF Transport Command as the Ventura C.V. The RAAF received 55 PV-1s diverted from US Navy stocks.
No 22 Squadron operated from Gibraltar while No. 27 Squadron operated in the Balkans in late 1944 on anti-shipping and antisubmarine warfare duty.

The squadron eventually reformed as a flying unit on 5 September 1944 at Croydon in the transport role.
The squadron reformed on 7 June 1937 at Scampton as a light bomber squadron equipped with Audaxes.
In December 1942, the squadron was withdrawn from operations in Europe and sent to the Middle East.

 90 Years of No II(AC) sq
Today, No. II(AC) sq is based at RAF Marham having been transferred there from Germany in December of 1991 when the Laarbruch Tornado Wing was disbanded.
RAF Marham's photo call however was exceptionally interesting in that the based Tornadoes could be seen in variety of weapons and stores fits.
The former is examplified by ZD984/BJ of No. 18 sq from RAF Odiham.

 History of MK923
MK923 was delivered to 9MU at RAF Cosford on the 24.3.1944, where it was stored until issue to a Squadron.
MK923 then left 126 Squadron after squadron were relocated to Bentwaters in Suffolk 30.12.1944 and re-equipped with Mustang III during December.
Later on in the conflict she was stripped of all RAF camouflage and painted green overall with light blue wings and given the serial no. H-61.

 No. 10 Squadron, Indian Air Force [ Adapted from Mr. Pushpindar Singh's Article]
The Squadron was formed on 20th February 44 at Lahore and was equipped with the Hawker Hurricane IIc fighter.
The Squadron commenced training shortly thereafter and had moved between locations at Lahore, Risalpur, carrying out Armament training at Amarda road, Ranchi, Salbani etc. At the beginning of November 1944, the Squadron's was designated as a Hurribomber unit with primary focus on Air to Ground support.
The Squadron was fully ops on the MiG-27 by the fiftieth anniversary of its raising in February 1994.

She was then passed onto 32MU at RAF St. Athen South Wales for a major Inspection.
No mention is made of the poor frightened captain of the boat on the lake but I would say that he had good reason to jump for safety seeing MK923 bearing down on him at zero altitude and throwing up all kinds of spray and propeller blades.

The entire squadron spent most of one afternoon releasing an unhurt pilot who was trapped in his upside down Messerschmitt after somersaulting on landing, with the ground soaked in petrol and the petrol tanks dripping relentlessly.
By the middle of December, 101 Squadron was down to six S-199s (D-108, 118, 120, 121, 123, and 124) and would lose one of those to a take-off accident on Dec. 15.
There may be a grain of truth in that, but there's no question 101 Squadron succeeded to some degree despite and not because of their airplanes.

In October 1945, for his leadership of the squadron in the unit's second tour of Operations, Sqn Ldr Lal was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC), the last such award given to the IAF in WW2.

Early in July the wing was disbanded, 441 Squadron being posted to fly alongside RAF and RAAF units in 125 Wing.
At the end of September 125 Wing was designated to receive squadrons of Spitfire Mk XIV's, and the Spitfire IX units all left the 2nd TAF, returning to the UK, 441 Squadron included.
Reformed in March of 1951 at Chatham, N.B. as a fighter squadron and equipped with Vampires and Sabres.

 de Havilland DH10 Amiens
The de Havilland DH10 was, along with the Vickers Vimy and Handley Page V/1500, a promising new RAF bomber that just missed real action in the First World War.
Its only sortie was on 10th November 1918, the day before the Armistice, when a single No.104 Squadron aircraft, F1867, bombed Sarrebourg aerodrome.
The type had first flown in March 1918; trials showed it was faster than the standard DH9A and could carry twice its bomb load.
