In August No 77 Squadron RAAF arrived in the area and was followed by No 76 Squadron RAAF in October.
No 1 Fighter Wing, RAAF moved to the Darwin area with three Spitfire squadrons, No 54 RAF at Darwin, No 452 RAAF at Strauss and No 457 RAAF at Livingstone, during January 1943.
The other two Darwin aces were RAF Squadron Leaders E M Gibbs and R W Foster of No 54, Squadron RAF.(18) The Japanese again attacked on 28 June with nine bombers and nine fighters.

No 99 Squadron was formed on 15 August 1927 at Yatesbury from a nucleus supplied by No. 13 Training Squadron.
In September 1944, the Squadron converted to Liberators for long-range attacks and in July 1945 moved to the Cocos Islands in preparation for the invasion of Malaya.
On 17 November 1945, No. 99 reformed at Lyneham with Yorks as a transport Squadron and re-equipped with Hastings in August 1949.

There is no official record of where in France he served, although it is believed it was on the Somme front.
Squadrons were tasked to protect England and particularly London from the threatened Zeppelin and Gotha raids.

However half of the Squadron was sent at the beginning of August to reinforce the airborne firepower in the besieged enclave of Imphal in the northern Chin Hills.
No immediate action was taken by the Allies presumably because South East Asia Command HQ thought the messages might be a ruse.

A new No 27 Squadron was formed In India on 19 September 1942, equipped with Beaufighters, which it used to great effect against the Japanese in Burma.
The squadron formed a strike wing with No 47 Squadron but the lack of coastal targets forced it to revert to ground attack in November 1944 which it continued until April 1945 when it took on the role of air-jungle rescue.
However, in June 2001, the squadron was revived, still in the support helicopter role, but now equipped with the Merlin HC Mk 1, the first RAF squadron to be equipped with the type.

The closest I've got is 2nd Lieutenant T A Dickinson, a pilot with No 27 Squadron RAF in 1918 - he scored a victory in DH9 D2873 on 20 September (RAF Communique number 26).
RAF Tern Hill was established in 1916 as a training station equipped with Avro 504s and later Sopwith Camels, but suffered a calamitous fire in 1919, when it was in use for working up the new Handley Page 0/400s, which destroyed two of the main hangars as well as four 0/400s and some 504s.
No 39 Squadron was based at Woodford in Essex and three pilots were successful in the space of a month - Robinson bringing down SL11 over Cuffley on 3 September 1916, Sowrey L32 on 24 September over Billericay and Tempest L31 on 2 October over Potters Bar.
