The squadron was reborn when part of 158 squadron was renumbered as 51 squadron in March 1937, flying Virginias and Ansons.
The squadron flew this role using Comets and Canberras, the former being replaced by a modified Nimrod in 1974.
At this time the squadron badge was being chosen and a Goose was chosen as a play on words: the squadron was flying the Anson and the Latin for Goose is Anser.

 SAAF Squadrons
Reformed in 1946 as a Ventura equipped bomber squadron at Swartkops, the squadron was renumbered as 25 Squadron on 1 January 1951.
Flying Beaufighters, the squadron was involved in bombing and strafing attacks in Greece and Yugoslavia until the end of the war saw the squadron disband on 10 July 1945.
On 28 October 1999 the squadron was reactivated at AFB Bloemspruit to as an attack helicopter squadron, equipped with the new Rooivalk.

It was formed as No 1 Squadron of the RNAS in October 1914, only being renumbered 201 on the formation of the RAF on 1 April 1918.
Despite its high squadron number, 201 Squadron is one of the oldest squadrons in the RAF.

 RAF early-warning crews may revolt in telephones row
The first indication of the threatened revolt is contained in a letter, published today in RAF News, the Service's official newspaper, from Master Aircrewman Tom Rumble, an electronics operator, who warned that he would not respond to calls made to his home.
Letters in RAF News are usually vetted by senior officers and the publication indicates that the writer's opinions are shared by many in the Service.
A row over the privatisation of the RAF's internal telephone system and the banning of private calls by personnel has already led to a senior airman threatening to refuse to respond to emergency call-outs received at home.

 Handley Page Hastings
The IRIS III Hastybird operated from RAF Lindholme, Yorkshire from 1960-72 under Bomber Command, later to become Strike Command' these were operated by 230 Operational Conversion Unit (OCU) but the unit was more affectionately known as '1066 Squadron' by those that flew/worked on them.
She finished her RAF service career as a Mark T5 with Strike Command Bombing School (aka 1066 Squadron) at RAF Lindholme where she was flown to RAF Gatow, Germany by Squadron Leader Jackson.
Once on the strength of 202 Squadron RAF Aldergrove, this aircraft was flown to RAF Shawbury, Shropshire and used as a firedump Hastings as late as 1968 but was actually struck off charge in 1966.

Early in 1944 the squadron's area of operations became the seas off the East Coast of India and in November 1944 the squadron moved to Redhill's Lake, near Madras and in April 1945 to Koggala in Ceylon.
The squadron reformed at Lahore in India on 14 October 1942 equipped with Hudsons in the transport role.

 NZAFMP - No. 78 Squadron RAF
In February 1941, No. 78 Squadron supplied the Whitleys and some of the crews (other crews were provided by No. 51 Squadron) which figured in Operation Colossus, the first Allied airborne operation of the war and the one in which British paratroops destroyed a large aqueduct at Tragino in southern Italy.
On 7 May 1945, No. 78 Squadron was transferred from Bomber Command to Transport Command and in September of that year, after having converted to Dakota aircraft, it was sent to Almaza in Middle East Command.
From July to October 1942, No. 78 Squadron was commanded by Wing Commander J B Tait, who later led the combined force of Lancasters from Nos.
