54 or LIV Squadron of the Royal Air Force operated the SEPECAT Jaguar from RAF Coltishall, England until disbanded on 11 March 2005.
No 54 Squadron was the first jet RAF formation team to trail smoke with a team of five De Havilland Vampires.
In 1955, No 54 Squadron flew a formation of four Hawker Hunter aircraft.

In August No 77 Squadron RAAF arrived in the area and was followed by No 76 Squadron RAAF in October.
No 1 Fighter Wing, RAAF moved to the Darwin area with three Spitfire squadrons, No 54 RAF at Darwin, No 452 RAAF at Strauss and No 457 RAAF at Livingstone, during January 1943.
The other two Darwin aces were RAF Squadron Leaders E M Gibbs and R W Foster of No 54, Squadron RAF.(18) The Japanese again attacked on 28 June with nine bombers and nine fighters.

25(F) Squadron were declared to SACEUR as fully operational on 31 December 1989, and on 1 August 1990, 54 Squadron assumed the title of 15 Squadron RAF Regiment, becoming fully operational in October 1991.
RAF Leemings' Station Commander and other officers were sent to Saudi Arabia to establish facilities at Dhahran, and four crews of XI(F) Squadron were dispatched to augment other Tornado F3 crews who had also deployed.
This composite XI Squadron deployed 18 aircraft in three waves to Dhahran between 29 August and 22 September to replace the first air defence Tornados which had deployed from Coningsby at the beginning of the conflict.

 No. 457 Squadron vRAAF Headquarters - History
At the end of May the Squadron was withdrawn from operations, flying its last operation in Europe on 28 May. The Squadron flew to Church Fenton an 16 June and prepared to leave for Australia.
Squadron aircraft were scrambled a number of times during February however little success was experienced, the first kill not occurring until 7 March 1943, when a 'Dinah' was shot down by Flight Lieutenant D.H. Maclean and Flight Sergeant J. McDowell.
Squadron Leader James, an original member of the Squadron from its formation in England, was posted south and replaced by Squadron Leader T.H. Trimbk on 2 February 1994.

In July 1942 the squadron was transferred to the USA to assist the Americans in the defence of the Eastern Seaboard of the USA and then in August it moved again to Trinidad, where it remained until November.
The squadron spent thirteen years at Odiham, replacing its Vampires with Meteor F Mk 8s in April 1952 and in their turn these were replaced with Hunter F Mk 1s in March 1955.
The squadron moved to Greece in September 1945, where it converted to Mosquitoes in June 1946, but on 1 November 1946, the squadron was disbanded, however, the number was kept alive between 1 February 1949 and 14 July 1957 when it was linked to No 44 Squadron.

54 Squadron is one of the old British Squadrons in the Royal Air Force, having been formed in 1916 under the banner of the Royal Flying Corps, and Commanded by Major J Horn.
The RAAF 467 Squadron was formed at Scampton on 7th November, 1943, the Headquarters of 5 Group Bomber Command, and flew its first operation on 2 January 1943 from RAF Station Bottesford.
The Squadron was relocated to RAF Station Waddington on 10 November 1943; at the same time its 'C' Flight became the nucleus of a new RAAF Squadron, 463.

He flew Hurricane's with No 501 Squadron and for shooting down 5 enemy aircraft between May 10 and June 19, 1940, during the Battle for France, James Harry "Ginger" Lacey was awarded the D.F.M. and Croix de Guerre, and was Mentioned in Dispatches.
Sgt J.H.C.Lacy of No 501 Squadron landed his Hurricane on the 30th of August 1940 with a shattered radiator and 87 bullet holes in the wing and fuselage.
He joined No 616 Squadron at Kenley on the 2nd of September 1940 and was posted to 71 Squadron at Church Fenton on the 12th of October 1940, to join other American volunteers in the first 'Eagle' squadron.

The RAF finally granted Controller (Air) Release to service for the Fury F.1 in 2292, after the WDS was upgraded to the Release 92 software standard, but without clearance for Gungnir carriage and without the Full Operational Clearance which represented the final payment milestone in MAe's development contract.
However as only one squadron was to be procured for the defence of the East Coast cities the sale of the Fury F.1 was approved and after training in Britain the Air Wing's 6 Squadron became active near Heorot on 24 October 2296.
The 8 squadrons would have been in the front line of the immediate response to a Kafer landing, but thanks to victory in the Battle of Beowulf they were never called upon.

The Bristol Bulldog was a Royal Air Force (RAF) single-seat biplane fighter designed during the 1920s by the Bristol Aeroplane Company, with over three hundred Bulldogs produced, that arguably became the most famous aircraft during the RAF's inter-war period.
The Bulldog was withdrawn from RAF service in 1937, being replaced by the Hawker Hurricane and Supermarine Spitfire, both of which would become legends of the RAF for their contribution during the Second World War.
The Bulldog never saw combat service with the RAF, though during the Abyssinian Crisis of 1935-36, Bristol Bulldogs were sent to the Sudan to reinforce Middle East Command.

The squadron was reformed in India on 1 April 1920 by re-numbering No 48 Squadron.
With the disbandment of No 33 Squadron at Middleton St George on 18 November 1962, its Javelin FAW Mk 9s were allocated to No 5, now at Geilenkirchen, along with many of the 33's crews.
The squadron reformed on 1 April 2004 to operate the Sentinel R Mk 1 from RAF Waddington, although the aircraft are not yet available.

The RAF originally intended to use the aircraft purely as an advanced trainer, but this was later changed to the offensive support role on cost grounds.
The first RAF aircraft took to the air in October 1969, and each air force placed orders for 200 aircraft - the RAF opting for 165 single-seat and 35 two-seat aircraft.

The Red Eagles are one of three squadrons based at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire, England, that operates the Boeing E-3D Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft, otherwise known as the Sentry.
The other 2 sqns are No 8 Sqn and the recently reformed No 54(R) Sqn which has taken over the role of all ISTAR aircraft aircrew training at RAF Waddington.
The transfer of the Sentry Training role to No 54(R) Sqn means that the Red Eagles are now a purely operational squadron.

F/Lt P.H.Barron from No 609 Squadron on convoy patrol flying his Spitfire (L1069) off Portland Bill and was shot down by a Bf 109 of JG 27 at 18:10hrs, on the 11th of July 1940.
He was posted to No 253 Squadron on the 10th of September, and on the 15th of September was involved in a battle with a Do 215, once again force-landing at Hawkinge.
E.A.Bayley was posted to No 249 Squadron in September, he was killed on the 10th of October 1940, at 15:45hrs, when his Hurricane I (V7537) crashed due to oxygen failure while on a routine patrol,he was aged 29.
