North Hollywood is a district in the San Fernando Valley section of Los Angeles, California.
North Hollywood, like most of the rest of the San Fernando Valley, was once part of the vast landholdings of the Franciscan Mission San Fernando Rey de España, which were confiscated by the government during the Mexican period of rule.
The NoHo Arts District is a new Los Angeles community, located near Valley Village and North Hollywood, that is home to contemporary theaters, art galleries, cafes, and interesting shops.

The NoHo Theatre and Arts Festival began on a small scale.
The first of these annual Festivals celebrated the Arts and was so compact it could be contained in the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences courtyard.
Many of the over 30 theaters that are a part of NoHo offered free performances over this 2 day celebration of theatre and the arts in June.

The theaters in NoHo are always in production with works ranging from old favorites to new forms of the age old form of entertainment.
However this was long before the NoHo Art District was created in 1992 by the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles.
Here is located the NoHo Gallery LA which as part of Italian-American Heritage Month was hosting a La Cosa Nostra showing with many of the artists present to discuss their works.

This area was just designated last year as Honolulu's Culture and Arts District so its still in its development stage but this is a before hand look at what the art community has got to work with.
Thankfully the art community is trying to turn this area around because its known for crime and drugs mainly along Hotel Street however some of it spills over to Nu'uanu Avenue where the growing art community is located.
There's a whole lot of work to be done but the community is trying their best to rid the area of crime and hold special events to attract more people to the area.

You might think that the "NoHo Arts District" would have lots of, well, Arts.
Strangely, most of the theatre in the city (and there are a lot of tiny stages in North Hollywood) are outside of the official Arts District boundaries.
