Noah was born on Glimpse Farm in Lauderdale county, outside Henning, Tennessee around 1890.
Noah was a harp player, in fact he was known for being able to play two harps at once, one with his mouth and the other with his nose.
In addition, Noah Lewis recorded 4 sides by himself (2 on Oct 2, 1929 and 2 on Nov 26, 1930) and 4 sides as the "Noah Lewis Jug Band" during Nov 1930.

A key figure on the Memphis jug band circuit of the 1920s, singer and harpist Noah Lewis [+] was born September 3, 1895 in Henning, Tennessee.
On a series of sides cut in the first week of October 1929, Lewis made his debut as a name artist, cutting three blistering harmonica solos as well as "Going to Germany," which spotlighted his plaintive vocal style.
Later recording with Yank Rachell [+] and John Estes [+], as the Depression wore on Lewis slipped into obscurity, living a life of extreme poverty; his death on February 7, 1961 was a result of gangrene brought on by frostbite.

This recording features Gus Cannon on banjo and jug (Cannon created a contraption to hang the jug from his band so he could blow and pick banjo at the same time), Ashley Thompson on vocals and guitar and Noah Lewis on the harp.
Minglewood was a lumber camp in Ashley, Tennessee, which was popular amongst musicians in the Mississippi Delta as a "hot spot." This tune became a popular staple of the Grateful Dead.
Noah Lewis also wrote and recorded New Minglewood Blues a couple of years later.

Gus Cannon was self-taught on a homemade instrument; he learned his early repertoire in the 1890s from older musicians, particularly Alec Lee.
In the early 1900s he was playing around Memphis with singer Jim Jackson and developing a partnership with Noah Lewis, whose amazing harmonica skills would be essential to the sound of the Jug Stompers.
Due to the Depression the Jug Stompers stopped recording after the early 1930s, but Gus continued to work on and off with members of the Jug Stompers in the mid-1930s, and continued to play as a solo artist mostly around Memphis.

So try this one on for size: a woman wronged by a world of evil men recuperates, studiously fails to call the police (too many men on the police force--men=bad, we'll be returning to this equation often), and finally tracks down her tormentors with the express purpose of murdering them.
Brilliant saturation, exquisite shadow detail, and an absence of artifacting impressed me, all, as did the punchy, if nondescript, 5.1 Dolby Digital mix, which uses the surround and LFE channels mostly to beef up the shock chords.
