Doyal Chowkidar, the protagonist of the novel, is dead against the idea of rushing to city life, rather he dreams to develop the condition of the village people as a whole.

The harvest festival or Nobanno, as it is commonly known in Bangladesh, is celebrated in the month of Agrohayon or Aghran of the Bengali calendar.
It is a joyous occasion because during this time farmers across the country rejoice at the reaping of the long awaited outcome of their labours.

Like the previous years, Jatiyo Nobannotshob Udjapon Porshod celebrated its 6th Nobanno venture at the Bakultola of the Institute of Fine Arts, Dhaka University, yesterday.
The festival started at 7am and continued till 10pm with various programmes including painting competition for children, presentation of dance and folk music.
A daylong 'Nobanno Utsav' will be held on December 27 on the premises of Fine Arts Institute of Dhaka University.
