Topic: Nocturno Culto

In the News (Thu 16 Feb 12)

I still hang with the other extremeists at helvete, but nocturno culto and zephyrous decides to stay away from oslo.
Anyway, nocturno culto is the sanest soul in darkthrone in this period, so he takes care of most of the music and business.
And in the end of the year, nocturno culto starts to work on the next album, "plaguewielder", and I am right writing more hard lyrics.

As Nocturno Culto, Fenriz doesn’t make a lot of changes, there are few riffs per song, who may sound ‘the same’ to ‘mainstream’ people.
Nocturno Culto's vocals of course are incredible, one of the best Black Metal vocalists i've ever heard, in my opinion only Garm's vocals top his.
Nocturno sounds as necro as ever with his voice improving since A Blaze in the Nothern Sky (which fucking rules by the way).

I was particulary touched by the attitude of Nocturno Culto, his sincerity, his humility: when he played with Satyr, they look liked  olds friends, in a perfect empathy ....and I forget that I were part of 35 000 persons...I just felt great!
Nocturno Culto did his part brilliantly as well, I especially have to salute him for honoring Quorthon with the concert.
And thanks to Nocturno Culto for the strength put into the show and Zephyrous for helping create the right vibe in the hours before the show.

The second part is a small interview done with Nocturno Culto in May 2000, two weeks before printing, and is mainly focusing on "Ravishing Grimness".
Darkthrone ain't the band you read about in every other 'zine… Nocturno Culto says that they have always been living in their own world, and that they still don't care much about the selling of an album, nor if the music reaches the audience.
This was a translation of Geir Larzen's interviews with Nocturno Culto and Fenriz in Spring 1999.

Where as Fenriz was the dominating influence on the other albums, on "Total Death" (i'm sure I heard someone say this was going to be called "Kreig"), Nocturno Culto appears to most of the writing/direction/whatever.
I'll take a stab and say its Nocturno Culto, as he seems to be the director of this movie.
The band (well both Fenriz & Nocturno Culto) have been listening to their fair share of Hellhammer and/or early celtic frost.

Nocturno Culto seems to think he's still in Satyricon and Fenriz probably isn't writing any material at all.
The music, written mostly by Nocturno Culto (Fenriz has written only one song as on Ravishing Grimness) is so dreadfully boring it makes me want to listen to Satyricon instead.

I cannot remember a single interview with Fenriz where he forgets to mention that the band’s music is mainly based on Nocturno Culto’s guitar riffs, and that is quite understandable.
Once again, an excellent collaboration between Fenriz and Nocturno Culto, and a killer riff that will be harassing my memory for the years to come.

Nocturno Culto's ice-pick riffing and arctic, sore throat form a symbiotic relationship with Fenriz's Neanderthal pounding and unvarished, surreal lyricism.
The album's inspired look at Darkthrone's past is terribly inviting, a repugnant affair that collectively kills nearly anything in fl metal's spotty past and present.
Yield now to the Nocturno Culto's words and see why the interminable Darkthrone do create the best damned fl metal out there.

 Mother North - Darkthrone
The band consists today of Fenriz alias Gylve Nagell alias Hank Amarillo and Nocturno Culto alias Nocturnal Cult alias Ted Skjellum, and they have had some other members through the years, the first to go was Dag Nilsen who took care of the bass playing duties on the demo's and on Soulside Journey.
It seems to us, that Fenriz and Nocturno Culto is getting tired of making this kind of music, and we're not sure if Darkthrone will ever make another album that could please the crowd again.
Nocturno Culto though is heard to have said, that he has forgiven the audience.

F: The point is that Nocturno Culto and me really agree on this: when we look upon the albums, we're looking at things that happened in our lives, around this album, whereas the people that will read your interview and have the albums will not -- they will just think about the music, that's all.

This On Frostbitten Paths Beneath MCD is his first real piece of work and he has called in the help from not the most unknown names in the fl metal scene, that is Nocturno Culto (Darkthrone) and Hellhammer (Mayhem).
Hellhammer’s drumming is flawless as usual and I like Nocturno’s vocals more than Nattsjel’s on this release, he doesn’t sound like Abbath quite that much hehe.
Nattsjel leads the band with a master's hand since the very first day but recently he's been helped by big names in the Norvegian Black Metal scene (Nocturno Culto: vocals on the second and the fourth track and Hellhammer on drums) as session members.
