The crown of Noggin, Prince of the Nogs is sought by his wicked uncle Nogbad the Bad who devises evil plots to threaten the safety of the kingdom, and sometimes the world, in order to force Noggin to give up his crown.
Noggin has a group of guards, led by Thor Nogson, and a group of friends and advisers including Olaf the Lofty (the court inventor) and Graculus (a big green bird).
Noggin the Nog was yet another collaboration between Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin, who made many children's programs between 1957 and 1987 including The Clangers, Pogle's Wood and Bagpuss.

Egg Nog Recipes by Recipe Cottage
I had never tasted good egg nog because it usually came from a carton or was mixed with a lot of rum.
In Colonial America, rum was commonly called "grog", so the name eggnog is likely derived from the very descriptive term for this drink, "egg-and-grog", which corrupted to egg'n'grog and soon to eggnog.
The true story might be a mixture of the two and eggnog was originally called "egg and grog in a noggin".

Analysis of early gene expression has shown that the loss of Nog expression in the floorplate, notochord, and roofplate results in a progressive failure of ventral development in the CNS and somites.
Nog is also expressed in condensing cartilage in the limb and in the sclerotome of somites so its loss results in defects in cartilage patterning and skeletal morphogenesis.
A targeting vector containing neomycin resistance, herpes simplex virus thymidine kinase and lacZ genes was used to disrupt most of the Nog coding region and some 3' flanking sequence.

Noggin the Nog was a popular British children's television series originally shown by the BBC in the United Kingdom during the years 1959 to 1965.
Linguistically, the hero's name is from 'noggin', one of the very few surviving words of the ancient Celtic Brythonic language of pre-Roman Britain, which survives in the common phrase "use your noggin" (i.e.: 'use your head, think about a problem in order to solve it').
Various Noggin short stories were also published, and a visitor in one of them, Noggin and the Moon Mouse, later provided the basis for the characters in the popular Clangers TV series.

The level of animation was basic, but this did not detract from the popularity of the series.
Strictly speaking, the title is "The Saga of Noggin the Nog", since the stories were based on the principle of a Norse saga, and every episode began with the words, "Listen to me and I will tell you the story of Noggin the Nog, as it was told in the days of old...etc".
This, combined with the introductory music, conveyed a slightly "creepy" atmosphere, which children found a little frightening and consequently even more exciting.
