Nokia's newest mobile phone, the 5510, is sure to steal the spotlight with its unique design, and is practically guaranteed to become a hot commodity.
The 5510 phone is also capable of downloading music from the radio, a CD or MP3 player, or from another 5510.

Its special form aside, the Nokia 5510 is very much like any other Nokia phone, and even though it comes with a handsfree set, this isn't necessary to use in order to place and receive calls.
The phone comes with several cables, including one which connects the 5510 through standard connectors to a stereo system, one which transforms the audio output jack of the 5510 to one that is compatible with 3.5 mm jack headphones, and of course the USB cable that provides PC connectivity.
Nokia lists it as having a standby time of up to 260 hours, and a talk time of up to 4 hours and 30 minutes.

The green LED's of the 5510 are nothing new to look at however certain keys do feel lacking in illumination as the number of keys is very large whereas the LED's are not that bright nor that numerous.

Nokia hopes this new approach will be the first step in the migration from voice and SMS toward fully integrated mobile entertainment and communication platforms.
Everything in the 5510 has been done before and there is little evidence that any of the value-adding functions have successfully driven sales of other mobile devices in the past.
Even if the 5510 is a relatively cheap stopgap measure, with few expensive components, and designed to keep the pundits busy while it focuses development efforts on 3G terminals, this approach has some merit.

Nokia all but invented the concept of the mobile phone being marketed as a lifestyle accessory, and their 5510 handset is the ultimate expression of that philosophy.
More pedestrian uses for the 5510, such as dialling a number, can be a chore because the extended keyboard requires two fingers or thumbs to operate, rather than being able to peck out a number with a single thumb.
It’s disappointing, then, that the 5510 uses the same display as most other Nokia handsets, limiting it to four lines of SMS text.
