Among all those strands is a dark one that stretches from the songs of Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht to those of Jacques Brel and on to some of the output of Lou Reed, Iggy Pop and David Bowie.
It is to this highly theatrical, decidedly camp and somewhat sinister linage that David Hawkins - "The Hawk" - tends to align himself in Nom de Plume.
A sense of Nom de Plume as a coherent show rather than a diverse assemblage of songs emerged more strongly in the second act than the first.

HAFIZ - LoveToKnow Article on HAFIZ   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-25)
Shams-ud-din Mahommed, better known by his takhallus or nom de plume of Hafiz, was one of the most celebrated writers of Persian lyrical poetry.
His principal work is the Diwan, that is, a collection of short odes or sonnets called ghazals, and consisting of from five to sixteen baits or couplets each, all the couplets in each ode having the same rhyme in the last hemistich, and the last couplet always introducing the poets own nom de plume.
The whole of these are arranged in alphabetical order, an arrangement which certainly facilitates reference but makes it absolutely impossible to ascertain their chronological order, and therefore detracts from their value as a means of throwing light upon the growth and development of his genius or the incidents of his career.

When this is the case, both the nom de plume and the real name should be name characteristics for the topic.
In line with the more general convention of our topic maps, one (and only one) of these should be in the unconstrained scope and the other should have either "nom de plume" or "real name" (respectively) as a theme in its scope.
In cases where the real name is the "default" but one or more works are clearly more closely associated with the nom de plume, those works should be themes in the scope of the nom de plume.

De Plume straightened himself and looked about the room to see the astonished faces of his lackeys, who presently lowered their heads in submission.

Guide to Literary Terms Nom de plume
Nom de plume (also called pseudonym) - the assumed name under which an author writes.
The term is taken from the French nom de plume, meaning “pen name” but does not actually exist in the French language—which uses nom de guerre, meaning “assumed name under which a person fights or writes.”
Several well-known nom de plumes are Mark Twain (Samuel L. Clemens); George Orwell (Eric Blair); and George Eliot (Mary Ann Evans).

Studies, if they were to be carried out and actually studied, would undoubtedly prove the majority of successful writers achieved their success while writing under the influence of a nom de plume.
Therefore, the conclusion must be made that the majority of writers who've penned their birth names upon their works were dismal failures.
Further rationalization for the nom de plume, particularly the choice of J.K. Rolling, is ruthless pragmatism.
