Nonuplet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nonuplets is a case of multiple birth in which the mother gives birth to nine offspring at one time.
The possible set may have occurred in Italy in 1979, but it is unknown if this was a set of nonuplets, or the Chinese octuplets (eight babies) that were born the same year.
None of the sets of nonuplets were conceived spontaneously; all were achieved through fertility treatments.

The largest set in which all members survived more than a few days is septuplets, the first of which was in 1997.
There have been a few sets of nonuplets (nine) in which a few babies were born alive, and there have been pregnancies — but no known instances of live births — of decaplets (ten), undecaplets (eleven), duodecaplets (twelve), and quindecaplets (fifteen).
Most of these are a result of fertility drugs, though a set of duodecaplets was conceived spontaneously (without the aid of fertility treatments) in Argentina in 1992.

Most of the musical content here depends on the repetition of the pre-set pitch patterns accompanied by changes and increases in rhythmic activity and a gradual increase in the median range, as well as a long slow crescendo throughout the section.
The climax of Section B is reached on page 11, with a repeated pattern that alternates between nonuplets and triplets, contains many leaps, and is in the middle and high range of the instrument.
Here there are nonuplets mixed with triplets; the subdivision of the nonuplets can be felt as the triplets are performed, so it is, in effect, steady motion.
