In October 1627, Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, son of Jahangir, "succeeded to the throne", where he "inherited a vast and rich empire" in India; and "at mid-century this was perhaps the greatest empire in the world".
Noor Jahan's abortive efforts to secure the throne for the prince of her choice led Shah Jahan to rebel against Jahangir in 1622.
Between 1636 and 1646, Shah Jahan sent Mughal armies to conquer the Deccan and the lands to the northwest of the empire, beyond the Khyber Pass.

Noor Jahan clearly provides a very standard curry experience so in a way I am surprised that it is so busy - although because in South West London modern, trendy Indians seem to be gaining hold, perhaps Noor Jahan is popular for being a taste of the 'old days'.
This is certainly a decent restaurant and if you're after a curry fix I'd definitely recommend it, just don't expect anything special or to able to linger over your meal.
Hell if you want the whole "Raj" thing then Bombay Brasserie is also a few streets away...but no...Noor Jahan on the other hand is in the restaurant business to make a few bob churning out tasteless "Indian " classics for a captive audience mostly living around the corner...

While growing up, I didn’t like Noor Jahan’s songs much because listening to her was out of fashion as copmared to pop trends of 80s and 90s.
I still remember when i went to home on Eid holidays, the year Noor Jahan died, and my mother was very sad about the departed soul throughout the Eid festival.
Her eldest daughter Zile Humma was on the screen for a while and lot of people liked her as she has resemblance with her mother but is no comparisan as far as singing is concerned.
