 Social Responsibility
Social responsibility can be viewed as a part of the social contract in that is the responsibility of each entity whether it is state, government, corporation, organisation or individual that they are contributing to society at large, or on a smaller scale.
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a company’s obligation to be accountable to all of its stakeholders in all its operations and activities with the aim of achieving sustainable development not only in the economical dimension but also in the social and environmental dimensions.
Socially responsible investing, often abbreviated to SRI, is an umbrella term for a philosophy of investing by both financial and social criteria.

Wiener arrived at MIT in 1919 as an instructor, and during his long and fruitful years here he was the originator of the field of cybernetics and of many of the ideas that grew into the development of the computer.
For the man who is not aware of this, to throw the problem of his responsibility on the machine, whether it can learn or not, is to cast his responsibility to the winds, and to find it coming back seated on the whirlwind.
So we might think of Norbert Wiener as the patron saint of CPSR, although I suspect he would be a bit uncomfortable with the religious metaphor.

As the title suggests, Wiener was concerned with the role of the individual in what today is called the postindustrial age, the information age, or the age of globalization.
However, Wiener’s professional achievements are instructive because they point to the significance of support structures and positions taken that may be available to each of us.
Indeed, one of Wiener’s best-known eccentricities can be interpreted in terms of his understanding of the significance of "informal communication," "strength of weak ties," and "networking." I am referring to his daily walks through the corridors at MIT during which he would engage students and colleagues.

Dark Hero of the Information Age
Wiener was the first to articulate the modern notion of “feedback.” His work heavily influenced legends of twentieth-century science and society: computer pioneer John von Neumann, information theorist Claude Shannon, anthropologists Margaret Mead and Gregory Bateson, and labor kingpin Walter Reuther.
Norbert Wiener, who was my mentor for a decade, was a brilliant and complex man, and the authors relate Wiener's ideas in illuminating detail.
Wiener’s most significant and profound contributions may reside in the issues he raised concerning the very nature of the individual in the twenty-first century, and in his resistance to the inhumane uses of science and technology by the government and other ruling institutions.
