  Norbulingka: Lhasa Travel information
Norbulingka, meaning 'Treasure Park' in Tibetan, is situated in the western suburb of Lhasa City, at the bank of the Kyichu River, about one km (about 0.6 mile) southwest of Potala Palace.
Norbulingka consists of several palace complexes, such as the Kelsang Potrang, Tsokyil Potrang, Golden Linka and Takten Migyur Potrang.
Norbulingka both reflects the ethnical, religious features of the Tibetan people and embodies the architecture style of inland China.

  Norbulingka Park
Situated in the western suburbs of Lhasa, Norbulingka Park was built in the 1740s during the reign of the 7th Dalai Lama.
Later it was renovated and enlarged and became the Dalai Lama's summer palace.
The main buildings are the Golden Palace, Sutra Hall and the New Palace, which was built in 1954.

Norbulingka (Tibetan: ནོར་འུ་གླིང་ཀ་; Wylie: Nor-bu-gling-ka) is a palace and surrounding park in Lhasa, Tibet which served as the traditional summer residence of the successive Dalai Lamas from the 1780s up until the PRC takeover in the late 1950s.
The park was built by the Seventh Dalai Lama in the 1750s, and became the summer residence during the reign of the Eighth Dalai Lama.
There is also a zoo at Norbulingka, originally to keep the animals which were given to the Dalai Lama.

GUNTUR: The Dharamshala-based Norbulingka Institute, which is organising the Kalachakra 2006, will construct a stupa as a memorial for the event taking place here from January 5 to 16.
The Norbulingka Institute thanked the State Government for providing one of the best infrastructure facilities with all basic amenities.
When asked about the high tariff on tents, the Norbulingka representatives explained that they had to bear the overheads on several aspects of organising the event including paying the power bill.

 The Norbulingka Institute
The Norbulingka Institute is a registered trust under the Chairmanship of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
It was founded in 1988 by the Department of Religion and Culture of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) in an effort to promote and preserve Tibetan culture in exile.
The Norbulingka Institute comprises the Centre for Arts, the Academy of Tibetan Culture, the Literary and Cultural Research Centre, the Library and Publications.
