		Nordine Ben Allal, serving a 27-year sentence for a series of violent crimes, escaped from the Nivelles prison on Sunday evening, according to the Belga news agency.
		It is the third time Ben Allal has escaped prison and gone on the run.
		On 2 October 2000, he faked a leg injury, and on the way to court in a prison van he managed to slip out of his handcuffs and run off.

		BRUSSELS — Two police officers were injured when Belgium's 'most wanted' on-the-run prisoner Nordine Ben Allal opened fire in the early hours of Friday morning.
		The criminals escaped and police later found the owner of the car who said the men inside it were Nordine Ben Allal — the violent prisoner who escaped on Sunday from Nivelles prison — and another man with the first name Redouan.
		The owner said Ben Allal, who went to school with his wife, had forced his way into the couple's home, forced his wife to drive for him prior to Thursday night and had stated he intended to hide out in their attic.

		During his escape, he was spotted by two police officers from the Police Zone Midi (which covers Anderlecht, St Gillis and Vorst).
		The policemen followed him into the neighbouring municipality of Sint-Jans-Molenbeek, where Ben Allal opened fire on them, injuring the two officers.
		He was the most wanted fugitive in Belgium during that week and was finally captured by special police teams while hiding in the trunk of a car.
