Norma crossed the Atlantic several years later (New York City, 1841) and became part of the Metropolitan Opera’s repertoire as of 1890.

Of course, Pollione and Norma as the main characters have the most beautiful and dramatic musical pieces (just listen to their duets), but also Adalgisa has her moments of glory (the duets with Pollione and Norma) and Oroveso (two wonderful arias at the beginning of the first act and in the second act).

Her execution of this tremendously difficult role was splendid and truly in keeping with the high standard that Michigan Opera Theatre has come to be known for.
It was a very enjoyable experience even for my husband who normally does not enjoy opera and is actually looking forward to the next performance at MOT.
