Norma Major - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dame Norma Major, DBE (born 12 February 1942) is the wife of Sir John Major, the former British Prime Minister.
However, Dame Norma has made it clear on a number of occasions that, as her Damehood was awarded in her own right and not by virtue of her marriage to the former Prime Minister, she should be known as Dame Norma Major.
Norma, Lady Major, DBE (2005 onwards) - should be noted that Lady Major prefers to use the style "Dame Norma Major" as she acquired the distinction in her own right.

Norma was awarded the marital home, and Frazer was given a lien on the home of $10,000 to be repaid upon the first to happen of the sale of the home, the remarriage of Norma, or upon their youngest child reaching the age of 18.
Norma's attorney argued that Frazer should be required to pay Norma's attorney fees as a result of his financial misconduct in this case since it was he who caused the sham sale of the marital residence necessitating a preliminary appeal in these proceedings.
In light of Norma's medical history and the fact that she had been working for a period of only 16 months at the time of trial, we believe the trial court was properly concerned about her ability to contribute to her support in the future.

 John Major Summary
Major professed himself to be "totally astonished," and political observers were stunned that the young and wholly inexperienced Major had been placed in one of the top positions in the British government.
Major quickly emerged as a strong candidate to succeed her: he had the backing of Thatcher and the "Thatcherite" wing of the party, his background in economic affairs provided him with important experience, and he was widely liked.
Major's relatively low-profile career after leaving front-line politics was disrupted by the revelation in September 2002 that, prior to his promotion to the Cabinet, Major had had a four-year extramarital affair with a fellow MP, Edwina Currie.

Norma was so enamoured of this tactic, her later contracts specified that no one else on a Shearer picture could use a base within a specified number of (darker) shades from hers.
Norma took this show on the road, as well; many candid off-screen shots of her in the 1930’s show her in suits that have striking details such as striped lapels, with very plain skirts and shoes.
Norma exploited every advantage that presented itself to her; a new brand of mascara might be deemed to give her something she had heretofore lacked, or a set might have lighting that made her look sensationally attractive, and therefore would be worth repeating in subsequent movies.
