Normal marine conditions were re-established during the Pliocene, but waters were then provided by the Red Sea-Gulf of Aden connection to the Indian Ocean, and a permanent land-barrier separated the Gulf of Suez from the Mediterranean.
Extension east of 151 40 E is primarily by seafloor spreading; the once contiguous Pocklington and Woodlark Rises are separated by oceanic lithosphere formed on the Woodlark spreading center.
The continued extension of the southern Gulf of Suez is interpreted as indicating a counterclockwise rotation of the Sinai Peninsula that allows the southern Gulf of Suez to accommodate 10-15% of the motion of the Dead Sea transform.

 Telephone and ISDN Wiring
Wiring of a normal telephone extension on a normal telephone circuit requires a Secondary socket connected back to the master socket and all of the other secondary sockets in parallel (all connected together).
Normal telephone cable is used for ISDN or telephone sockets, and can be used for networking.
The difference is that a normal master socket includes a surge suppresser, and is used where the pair of cables coming in to the socket are on the end of a long cable that can pick up the effects of lightening near by (this is not a foolproof protection against lightening).

Biomechanical analysis of cervical orthoses in flexion and extension: A comparison of cervical collars and cervical ...   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
Intercentroidal translational motion restriction in flexion and extension was defined as the difference between the translation of one vertebral centroid from an adjacent vertebral centroid relative to C7.
The capability of the 4-post CTO to effectively restrict extension motion seems to contradict the current thinking that the halo may be the only effective orthosis for reducing motion in extension.
We observed in some cases that "normal" motion occurred to a point in these segments in the early stages of flexion-extension, but as the resistance of the orthosis increased and the subject increased his or her effort, the snaking phenomenon, or "reverse vertebral tilt" would occur (Figure 9).

Hence, normal faults dipping 30 are likely to be seismically active in at least one part of this rift system.
In this region just landward from the rift tip the highest extension rates are expected (40 mm/yr) and strain is likely to be localized on a single system of normal faults.
Because shallow dips for normal faults are seen near the rift tip, but not elsewhere along strike, high strain rates may be an important factor in allowing normal faults to slip at unusually shallow dips.

Now the field extension $L \leq \Sigma$ is a normal extension (since $\Sigma$ can be obtained by adjoining the roots of $f$ to $L$).
If the extension $\mathbb Q \leq L$ is normal then $L$ is a splitting field of some rational polynomial, the roots of which must be permuted by any $\alpha$ in $G$, so each $L\alpha = L$ and so each $\alpha^{-1}L\alpha = L$.
Now suppose that $L$ is a normal subgroup of $G$, so $\mathbb Q \leq L$ is a normal field extension.

Extension occurs during continental rifting (e.g., Rhine Graben, North Sea Basin, Basin and Range, Red Sea, East African Rift Valley), at mid-ocean ridge spreading centres, within passive continental margins (e.g., Gulf Coast) and during extensional collapse of orogenic belts (e.g., Variscan).
Horsts are relatively uplifted and unrotated blocks bound by outward dipping normal faults; Graben are relatively down-dropped and unrotated blocks bound by inward dipping normal faults.
Growth Faults: Because extension and normal faulting are intimately associated with the formation of sedimentary basins, sedimentation and fault displacements often occur simultaneously.

Normal extension - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In abstract algebra, an algebraic field extension L/K is said to be normal if L is the splitting field of a family of polynomials in K[X].
The following conditions are equivalent to L/K being a normal extension:
Every irreducible polynomial in K[X] which has a root in L factors into linear factors in L[X].

Shallow Dip on the 1954 Dixie Valley Fault
A global study by Jackson (1987) shows a similar limit (approximately 35 degrees) on normal fault dip and reveals that faults are essentially planar and dip steeply down to the brittle-ductile transition.
Beyond 40%, extension must be taken up by a new set of high-angle faults cutting the old system, or by aseismic slip on faults which have rotated to a low angle.
The extent of the 1954 Dixie Valley surface rupture is denoted by the white arrow.

No tail co-operates with non-canonical Wnt signaling to regulate posterior body morphogenesis in zebrafish -- Marlow, ...
Gastrulation-like convergence and axial extension contribute to tailbud elongation; anterior tailbud cells (light green arrows) advance posteriorly and posterior tailbud cells (light blue arrows) move within the posterior flow and then laterally, avoiding the midline and anterior bud cells.
In ntl mutants, convergence movements are relatively normal despite a lack of wnt11 in the notochord.
Movement of posterior tailbud cells into the mesendoderm occurs normally despite the lack of Kupffer's vesicle, suggesting that the boundary between dorsal- and ventral-derived cells is maintained (if this distinction is required for normal subduction).
