In the township the population was spread out with 24.9% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 25.7% from 25 to 44, 29.7% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who were 65 years of age or older.
The median income for a household in the township was $57,917, and the median income for a family was $70,625.

All civil penalties imposed and interest accrued with respect to the tax due hereunder to the township shall, in addition to the tax, be paid to the Recorder of Deeds for remittance to the township in the same manner as the tax is required by law to be remitted to the township.
Whenever necessary to reasonably effectuate and carry out the intent of the Abington Township local realty transfer tax, the terms of the State Act shall be deemed modified and shall be construed and interpreted and in such a manner as if such State Act had been enacted by the Township of Abington.
The Occupational Privilege Tax Collector, on behalf of the township, shall collect and receive the taxes, interest, fines and penalties imposed by this article and shall maintain records showing the amounts received, the dates such amounts were received and the name and address of the taxpayer from whom or for whom the tax was received.

North Abington Township settlement came in 1812, with the arrival of Asa Knight.
Being a man of vision and persistence, he approached the Pennsylvania Society for the Advancement of the Deaf (PSAD) and presented a resolution at their 1884 convention calling for the support of compulsory education of deaf children in Pennsylvania.
The PSAD passed the Koehler resolution, and then went to the Pennsylvania legislature resulting in a bill being passed mandating education for deaf children in Pennsylvania.

It was over 115 years ago in 1889 when the people of Abington decided at a town meeting to form a fire company - the first in the township.
In 1911 hose was received from Abington township as a part of the procedure under the Township Fire Department and in 1913 the first appropriation was received from Abington Township Commissioners in the amount of $300.00.
The Abington Fire Co. has a fine personnel and owe their success to active members, the Ladies Auxiliary and the people of the community who have contributed to their needs and the appropriation from the Township Commissioners.
