The population of Michigan in 1880 was 1,636,937; in 1890 it was 2,093,889, an increase of 27.9% within the decade; in 1900 it was 2,420,982, a further increase of 15.6% and in 1910, according to the preliminary returns of the U.S. census, it was 2,810,173.
Michigan was a pioneer state in creating the American educational system; she began the organization of it at the time of her admission into the Union in 1837, and has since been noted for the high standard of her schools.

In the south and west portion of the township the land is hilly, while in the north and east it is flat.
It is bounded on the north by Sigel, on the east by Sherman, on the south by Sanilac County, and on the west by Bingham Township.
Sigel Township in number is 16 north, of range 14 east, and is bounded on the north by Bloomfield, on the east by Sand Beach, on the south by Paris, and the west by Verona Township.

 ATSDR - PHA - North Bronson Industrial Area, Bronson, Branch County, Michigan
The groundwater, soil, surface water, sediment, and sludges at the lagoons and the drain are contaminated with metals and organic chemicals.
The site study area boundaries are County Drain #30 on the north; Lincoln Street extended to the drain on the east; Fillmore, Matteson, and Union Streets on the south; and Albers Street extended to County Drain #30 on the west (see Figure 2).
Also in 1983 and 1984, Branch County dredged the drain west of Matteson Street to the outfall from the wastewater treatment plant to improve water flow in the drain.

In the G and H Landfill Health Assessment, the ATSDR concluded that the site was of indeterminate public health concern because of possible exposure to contaminants through use of contaminated water and consumption of contaminated wild animals and fish.
The G and H Landfill (G and H) site is south of 23 Mile Road and west of Ryan Road in Shelby Township, Macomb County, Michigan, between the cities of Utica and Rochester (Figure 1 in Appendix A).
The infant death rate for Township hospitals was high in the early 1970s, but by including only those cases where the mothers were Township residents at the time of birth, the rate was reduced to one comparable to the State and County.

 Whitewater Township Historical Society
In the spring of 1859, lands in township 28, 29 and 30, which used to be a part of the Indian Reserve, were declared part of the public domain and became subject to settlement and pre-emption.
In 1859, Whitewater Township became the third township in the county, after Peninsula and Traverse, and covered an area from Elk Lake to past Grand Traverse Bay.
The town of Williamsburg was the largest settlement in the township and was established prior to the township being organized.

Arndt is a resident of neighboring Linwood, Michigan.
In 1877 new owners renamed it the Pinconning Railroad, and a branch line was constructed north five miles to the village of Bentley in Gibson Township.
In 1883 the system was bought by Michigan Central Railroad Co., and operated as one of their branches, called Gladwin Division.

Prudence Boulton, who may have been the model for the character of Prudence (Prudie) in "Ten Indians," and/or Trudy in "Fathers and Sons," is said to be buried in an unmarked grave at Greensky.
To guarantee his privacy, he is reported to have occasionally "escaped" to a small room (equipped with a wood burning stove) in Evelyn Hall, a women's dormatory that was unoccupied during the winter.
