THIS township is bounded on the north by Hopewell, on the east by Canton and Franklin, on the southeast, south, and southwest by Franklin and East Finley, and on the west by Donegal township, of which last named Buffalo originally formed a part.
The waters of Buffalo are Buffalo Creek, which flows in a northwesterly course through the central part of the township, and Brush Run, which marks the northern boundary of Buffalo against the township of Hopewell.
Buffalo Baptist Church--This church was organized June 1, 1861, at Buffalo Town, under the jurisdiction of the Wheeling Baptist Association, sixty members of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of East Finley having requested a letter for the purpose of forming the new organization.

North East was the first of the lake shore townships to be settled, with Joseph Shadduck arriving in 1794.
Land use in the township continues to be mainly in agriculture, and throughout the area can be found many Century Farms, that is, farms that have been owned and worked by one family and its descendants for 100 years or more.

Muriel Moore assumed the responsibilities of the office of President of Buffalo State College on October 25, 1996 when she was inaugurated as the college's 7th president and first woman to hold this position.
Before her arrival at Buffalo State College, she was the vice president for public service and urban affairs at the University at Buffalo, the highest ranking woman at the institution.
Howard was employed for 23 years at the University at Buffalo where she held several other key administrative positions including deputy to the president, associate vice provost of special programs, director of the Educational Opportunity Center, and director of the University Learning Center.

South Buffalo Township in Armstrong County was presented with the second runner-up award in the 22nd Annual Road and Bridge Safety Improvement Contest at the annual convention of the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors in Hershey April 18-21 for finding a permanent fix to a safety hazard caused by reoccurring road slides.
South Buffalo Township was recognized for the cost-effective repair of two road slides on Northern Scenic Road, which is a primarily stabilized road located in the far northwest corner of the township.
The Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors represents Pennsylvania’s 1,456 townships of the second class and for the past 83 years has been committed to preserving and strengthening township government and securing greater visibility and involvement for townships in the state and federal political arenas.

 Richland Township | Township History
There were three traffic thoroughfares between Pittsburgh and the north in the early days: the Perrysville Road (Route 19), by river to Freeport and overland to Butler, and the present Route 8.
The earliest of the churches now located in Richland Township is the Methodist Church at Bakerstown, which was organized in 1832, the original building having been erected on ground donated by James Jones, and the brick for the same was made from clay taken from the old Baker Cemetery.
The church was built in 1838 and remodeled in 1883, was partially burned in 1890, and rebuilt in 1891.

Shortly afterward, Lemon Rd. bends to the north and becomes Leopard Rd.; after about 0.8 miles, it bends back to the east and becomes Lorric Rd. After another 0.7 miles, Linden Rd. intersects from the north; the village of Pekin is about a mile to the north, and the village of Minerva a mile further.
Buffalo Rd. is followed to the east for 1.2 miles, until reaching the village of Hanoverton.

Ten of the children of George Ealy and Michael Ely went to Ohio, eight to Knox County, and two to other counties (not mentioned, perhaps unknown).
Their children were baptized in the Bindnagle Church, near Palmyra, and Michael's will was written Sept.13, 1816, probated Dec.24, 1819, and a settlement was reached in 1834.
