The new terminal facility will open to general public in June 2001, pending the transition of operations from the old terminal building to the new passenger facility.
The new 31,000-square-foot terminal, located on the waters edge, was de- signed by renowned museum architects and planners E. Verner Johnson and Associates Inc. With a high tech \\\\\\\"waterfront\\\\\\\" style that alludes to lighthouse imagery, the terminal design also enhances foot passenger safety.
The Cape May terminal hosts approximately 600,000 visitors per year, a 25% increase since it was first built in 1985.
