Ohio Wesleyan University is a charter member of the North Coast Athletic Conference, which began competition in the 1984-85 academic year.
Earlham College and Wittenberg University joined the NCAC in 1988 and began championship competition in the 1989-90 academic year, and Hiram College and Wabash College joined the NCAC in 1998 and began championship competition in the 1999-2000 academic year.
The NCAC's 22 championship sports includes 11 for men and 11 for women, the latter figure leading all Division III conferences in the country.

Already serving as Assistant Athletic Director, Farrell stepped down from her post as head volleyball coach before the 2005 season to serve full time as an administrator.

Denison suffered a 1-0, double overtime loss to unbeaten Calvin in the NCAA Sectionals on Friday in Rochester, N.Y. It was the second consecutive season that the Big Red had advanced to the round of 16.
Denison has made 10 NCAA Tournament appearances overall and has appeared in the post-season in eight of the last 10 seasons.The NCAC has had at least one team in the NCAA Tournament field in 13 of the past 16 seasons.

While his team did not win the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) and reach the NCAA Division III playoffs, Charleroi High School graduate Mario Tarquinio's senior collegiate football season at Allegheny College was a most successful one.
In 2004, he finished fourth among all NCAC players in rushing yards and touchdowns with 1,145 yards and 13 rushing TDs.
Allegheny was eliminated in the opening round, 20-19, at Montclair State University, Upper Montclair, N.J. A second-team All-NCAC selection in 2004 and 2005, Tarquinio finished his collegiate career while appearing in 31 games with 642 rushing attempts, 3,187 net rushing yards and 31 touchdowns.
