In the 12th century civil war Dorset was fortified with the construction of the defensive castles at Corfe Castle, Powerstock, Wareham and Shaftesbury, and the strengthening of the monasteries such as at Abbotsbury.
Dorset is famed in literature for being the native county of author and poet Thomas Hardy.

About 5,000 strategic vote swaps would achieve the Dorset goal, and help to achieve the larger goal, so I would be glad to hear from prospective Labour pairs.
Obviously I would have preferred to pair with Dorset South to boost Jim Knight's slender majority, but this BBS does seem to indicate a lack of impetus.
Burton, our constituency, continues to be a target for a tactical vote, for Lib Dems to support the Labour MP against a Tory comeback (the seat was Tory for donkey's years, until 1997).
