Boston (State capital and largest city of Massachusetts; a major center for banking and financial services) 's North End is the city's oldest residential community, where people have lived continuously since it was settled in the 1630s.
It is the center of the Italian (A native or inhabitant of Italy) community of Boston, and is said to be the birthplace of the American Revolution (The revolution of the American colonies against Great Britain; 1775-1783).

Just one square mile (2.5 square kilometers), Boston's North End is the "original" Boston—where a century before Italian immigrants flocked to the neighborhood, Paul Revere met with the Sons of Liberty in local taverns to plot the American Revolution.
From his North End home, which was built in 1667 (Boston's only 17th-century dwelling still on its original site today) Revere rowed across the bay to Charlestown to await the signal to begin his famous midnight ride to warn the colonists of advancing British troops.
The North End is in the midst of another metamorphosis: young professionals are drawn to the area for its selection of restaurants and proximity to the nearby financial district.

The North End Branch maintains a local history collection which is mainly comprised of published monographs.
Largely constructed by Henrietta Macy before her death and completed by Louise Stimson of Concord, Massachusetts, the diorama was donated to the Boston Public Library by Nina C. Mitchell of Sheperdstown, West Virginia.
The North End Branch also boasts a white marble bas-relief of Dante Alighieri, which was donated to the Central Library in 1913 and later removed to the Branch.

But the tank, built in a hurry with faulty design, was at the edge of the city's most densely-populated neighborhood, the North End, where politically-inactive Italian immigrants had little clout, said Stephen Puleo, the author of "Dark Tide," a book about the flood released in September.
The Boston Building Department tightened its regulations after the flood, including requiring engineers and architects to sign stamped drawings and new engineering certification laws that eventually became standard across the country.
