North Luzon Expressway - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The North Luzon Expressway, also known as the NLE or the NLEx, is a limited-access toll expressway that connects Metro Manila to the provinces of the Central Luzon region in the Philippines.
The expressway begins in Quezon City at a cloverleaf interchange with EDSA: a logical continuation of Andres Bonifacio Avenue.
The expressway ends at Mabalacat and merges with the MacArthur Highway, which continues northward into the rest of Central and Northern Luzon.

South Luzon Expressway - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) or (SLE), also called South Superhighway, is a network of three expressways that connects Metro Manila with the provinces of the CALABARZON region in the Philippines.
Over the years, the areas surrounding the South Luzon Expressway, particularly southern Metro Manila and those areas within Laguna province, have seen massive industrialization and urbanization, especially with the influx of local and foreign investment into the area and the migration of Filipinos from different parts of the Philippines.
Phase 1 of the expressway project includes the replacement of the already shaky Alabang Viaduct, the rehabilitation and widening of the Alabang-Calamba segment, construction of the missing link(Calamba-Santo Tomas segment) and the integration of the Skyway, South Luzon Expressway and the STAR Expressway as a single toll road.

The new NLE is in consonance with Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s Go North Advocacy, which aims to promote North Philippines as a premier destination for tourism, trade and promotion.
The NLE has also been instrumental in other Go North activities such as the Go North Caravans, which has created a lot of local and international awareness, and overwhelming media mileage, making it possible for the private sector to accommodate the influx of demand”, Diaz said.
As the NLE aims to provide primary access to North Luzon, the government is also looking at other alternatives to enhance inter-province road networks in the area, and to rehabilitate/widen existing roads so that it may accommodate more traffic volume.
