	Seeing The Light - North Point Lighthouse
		After gas lights were installed throughout the park, and housing development spread to the west, mariners complained that the North Point light’s long flash period made it difficult to differentiate between the lighthouse and the growing number of city lights.
		The North Point light was electrified in 1929, and with the only light-related duties being the polishing of the lens brass and glass, Johnson’s duties became more akin to those of a groundskeeper and caretaker than light keeper.
		North Point Lighthouse Friends, a 501(c)3 non profit organization was formed in 2002 with their charter being the restoration of the historic lighthouse, and plan on opening the structure to the public in 2005.

		North Pointe Boulevard is designed and located as one of a series of roads parallel to Route 29 as recommended in the November 2002 report – “Transportation Issues Within the Route 29 Corridor North of the Rivanna River”.

	Point Pelee National Park - ON
		Point Pelee is the southernmost tip of mainland Canada, and its southern location, coupled with the moderating influence of Lake Erie, ensure a warmer climate than in almost any other part of Canada.
		There is a parking lot, canoe landing, and observation tower on the edge of the marsh and small inland lakes.
		From the parking lot to the sand beach on the west side of the peninsula is a 200 foot walk over level ground.

	Bay Area Hiker: Helen Putnam Regional Park

		The park's compact size favors short hikes, dogwalks, and daily runs for locals, but there's plenty of beautiful scenery to draw visitors from surrounding Sonoma County or northern Marin County.

		The park is located on the shores of Lake of the Woods, one of the world's largest lakes.
		From that location, walk north to the beach and then follow the shoreline of Lake of the Woods west/northwest to the jetties that protect the entrance to Zippel Bay.
		Hikers may return to the beach parking area to complete their hike by following either the beach back east or there is a small loop trail that parallels the beach for a short distance just south of the beach sand ridge and then rejoins the beach.

	Seeing The Light - Peninsula Point Lighthouse
		With the best passage between Lake Michigan and Escanaba being through St. Martin Island passage, vessel masters making the passage under darkness were forced take extreme care as they rounded Point Peninsula to avoid the shoals which extended from the point some two miles into the lake.
		Realizing that a light on the southerly extremity of the Point would serve as an invaluable aid to mark both the turning point and the shoals, the maritime community began applying pressure to area politicians to seek am appropriation fur such a light.
		The park now serves as a premium spot to view the annual September migration of monarch butterflies which gather to feed on the point before winging their way across Green Bay to the Door Peninsula, and their remarkable flight south to winter in Mexico.

		Winter Park is a new town situated at 2755 metres altitude.
		The Tipperary trail refers both to a particular trail that consists of a long climb up to crest that is higher than 3000 metres and to the Tipperary Race course.
		Once one has reached the highest point, a bit higher than 3000 metres, there is a fine downhill, on fast singletrack along a trail called Spruce Creek.

	State Marine Parks - Four more near Whittier
		Two beaches of small pebbles, which are moderately exposed, afford camping spots during low tide cycles at the southern point of the mouth of the bay.
		The marshland south of the park is sensitive habitat for the many waterfowl species that nest there and should not be disturbed.

	Anchor Point, Alaska - Alaska Online
		Anchor Point was named in the summer of 1787 by Captain James Cook and crews of the Resolution and Discovery who sailed into the Inlet looking for a Northwest Passage, and gave Anchor Point its name after losing a kedge anchor to the awesome tidal currents for the nearby point of land.
		At the mouth of the river and during high tide, sea otters and Pacific Harbor seals may be seen diving for salmon.
